Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this trailer brake drum with the ABS exciter ring for an eight on six and a half inch Dexter trailer hub assembly on the 9,000 and 10,000 pound axles. Now this part will replace an ABS brake drum with the exciter ring on the Dexter old style two piece hub and drum assemblies for the 9,000 pound and 10,000 pound axles. Now we do sell that separately. It's part number 8-288-3UC1 and again it's sold separate on our website.
Now when I said the old style, what they're referring to is before July of 2009 they had a two piece hub and drum assembly and that's what this drum will work with the hub as the two piece system. Now this ABS brake drum includes the ABS exciter ring, which I keep mentioning and if you want to know what that is, it's the ring right here that's installed. You can see it here on the inside of the drum and when this is used with an ABS sensor, we'll carefully monitor the speed of the wheels and it transmits important signals which can alert the system electronically, so these parts will work in combination to ensure that the trailer is stopped effectively and safely without skids when the brakes are applied. Now the sensors are not included. Those we do sell separately. They're on our website. It's part number 097-004-00.
Now the mounting bolts also to attach this drum to the hub are sold separately. They're listed on this product page as a related product. They're part number 7-245. Application, the drum size. Let me turn this around and we'll measure the drum size.
That's the internal size is what we're measuring. So the diameter, which will be measured inside the inside, if you put a ruler on it, it's right at 12 and a quarter inches. The width would be the surface right here or the pad brake pad would go up against it's four inches. Now the brake assembly that's required to be used with this, it will actually be sized 12 and a quarter inch by three and three eighths inch wide pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center is four and three quarter inches. And as we mentioned, the bolt pattern on this is an eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern, but that should do it for the review on the trailer brake drum with the ABS exciter ring for the eight on six and a half inch Dexter trailer hub assembly on the 9,000 and 10,000 pound axles.
