Solar Panel Recommendation for Charging Deep Cycle Battery Installed on Trailer

Question:

I am converting a cargo trailer to use for hunting, etc and want to upgrade the 12v system so I can install a water pump, possibly a couple more interior or exterior lights, and a 12v plug. The trailer came with a small recreation battery and fuse panel mounted to the tow bar which controls the interior and exterior lights and brakes. I would like to replace the existing battery with an automotive size deep cycle battery, replace the fuse panel and move it inside and add the circuits necessary for the items noted above. Can you suggest what parts I would need to do this? I also have a solar panel system panel, inverter, charger I would like to incorporate into it. At this time I am not interested in being bale to connect to shore power. Thank you

We don't carry fuse panels or deep cell cycle batteries so those two things you'll have to source elsewhere. Basically what you are wanting to do is very possible but it really comes down to you picking out the best battery for your application. Which is going to be the biggest one you can find. We do have a solar panel option we can help with.

I recommend the Solar Power Kit from Torklift # TLA7713. This is a 10 watt panel that will maintain the charge to boost the life of your battery and bring a battery back from 50-percent life.

We recently installed this solar panel on a trailer to maintain the charge on a battery. I have attached a review and installation video of this solar panel for you.

If you plan on using this solar panel with a single battery, you will need to use a 8-amp regulator, such at # TLA7715, to protect your battery.
