So far, I'm very happy with the product. Since it would not fit in the battery rails, I had to use the 4th installation option. The product comes with a couple of slotted aluminum brackets to accommodate this. In the advertisement, I could only find the depth, length and the top width measurements. It would have been helpful to have the dimensions of the BOTTOM width so you know if it will fit in your rails or not. It was an 1/8 inch too wide. Regardless, after carefully planning the placement, I was able to install it. I feel like the bracket mounting option isn't really very secure since it is all just bolted on - you bolt on the brackets and then bolt the box to the brackets. If I were a thief and had a strong buddy, unscrew 4 nuts, snip the wires and you could lift the whole thing off. I will be taking some extra measures to thwart them. It looks great, has a good solid feel to it and should give any thieves a bit of a headache. It seems to be very well constructed and sturdy, the aluminum diamond plate is riveted on and all that was very nicely done and secure. There were no sharp edges so the finish quality is nice. It certainly beats the plastic ones that are secured with just a piece of webbing. I installed it on a 2023 Jayco Feather Micro 171BH. The tongue room is not that generous with the electric jack and double propane tanks, but I was able to position it so that you can get the lid off with no issues. If it would have fit down in the factory rails, it may have been too close to the front of the trailer to get the lid off. I really like the way they engineered the lid though, it just slides off after getting it off the tabs. Just take your time when planning your install, measure everything multiple times, dry fit it to make sure you can easily remove and replace the lid and then button it down. I put two 6 volt golf cart batteries in it and they fit perfectly!

We love the locking feature of the Torklift Powerarmor battery box! Locking lid and secure mounting brackets keep batteries safe.

by:

I'm mostly happy with the box. I knew right away from reading the description that I was going to have to make some additions to the securing of the lid. I have thieving bastages that roam around my area with prybars and hacksaws. I added a thick steel bar and bolted it to the box and cut a notch in the lid for a high security lock. So far they have lifted the camper cover to look at the box, but have decided it was too much effort to try and open the box. One of the main reasons I only rated it 3 stars was there were numerous rivets pulled out and a few times the holes drilled in the aluminum plate were too large and the rivets wouldn't hold at all. I realize this doesn't make it less secure, I just prefer a better fit and finish. I spent a couple hours drilling out every rivet, re-drilled the plate as needed and used backer washers to hold the new rivets securely. Bottom line - I would buy another one, even though I know I might have to rework it to satisfy my security concerns

After a year its still worth the time and money. Ive had thieves lift my RV cover and when they see the armored box and the modifications I did to it, they just leave. Twice Ive gone out to find the cover pulled up and over the battery box the wind doesnt do that, and found my battery box unmolested. I figure if each time that happened, the batteries would have been stolen, The cost of replacing the batteries has exceeded the price I paid for the box. The ONLY downside is that I couldnt put the plastic battery boxes the batteries used to sit in, inside the Torklift box. I had to cut the bottom 5 inches off the plastic boxes to get them in. I probably didnt need them. I just like having a tray to catch any liquid overflow from the batteries. Now I have to debate, do I take the box off the tongue when I sell the trailer? Or do I use it as a selling point and raise the price?

by:

It is a very good heavy duty battery box, but have terrible battery tie down system.

by:

Impressive looking box. Looks secure but I will probably add another lock to it (Just to make it look not worth it to try to break in). Fit nicely into my existing tongue bracket.

After 1 year the box is in great condition. If I ever needed another box I would purchase this one.

by:

Worked great for my new battery box. Added external connections for solar panels and inverter.

by:

Great product. Fits my 6v batteries securely. Worth the price. Very well made!
Thanks etrailer!

by:

First off, kudos to George J and etrailer for delivering this before it was scheduled. Expected it Monday, but received it Friday afternoon, allowing me to install Saturday. Power Armor box went onto my 2017 Pacific Coachworks Blaze'N 24FS like a glove. Swapped out a single 12V, 75A-h battery with two 6V, 215 A-h batteries and works great! The battery box comes with hardware for different installation mounts, which I wish I would have known earlier because I spent a lot of time fretting before ordering that it was not going to fit well.

One year on and best part is: peace of mind knowing my batteries are secure and protected.

by:

Thank you for the battery box. Installation was easy and it looks great on our travel trailer. I would probably have bought the model with the solar panel attached if I had realized it was available so we could have the batteries charged at all times. Thanks again for a great product.

We are very pleased with our lock box for batteries with the solar panel attached. We have had no battery problems since installing the box

by:

I love the products, however the L-Bracket on the lid that is part of the locking system broke off. I was able to JB Weld it for now, but not sure how long that will last so I would like to see about getting a lid replacement. Even if I have to purchase the lid, can someone let me know if that is even possible?

5/25/2017

Justin, thank you for your purchase and your feedback! While we do not recommend using JB Weld on your lid, we do have good news! According to the manufacturer, the lid would be covered under warranty. As Torklift prefers to handle the warranty on this item, please call Torklift 800-246-8132 for assistance. If you have any further questions, please contact our customer service department.

by:

Overall seems to be a solid box. Delivered in good shape. I have heard but not confirmed that the lock is a genus rv storage key. If that’s the case each box should have an individual lock. It should not be keyed like other RV locks. The bottom corners could be much cleaner and flatter.?

Etrailer Expert

12/8/2021

I reached out to the manufacturer and they were not sure what a Genus RV Storage key is or looks like, so if it is similar, it is mere coincidence. Their PowerArmor boxes use a quarter turn barrel lock to keep the lid in place.

by:

Package came fast. well packed. Install took alittle bit of work due to my setup but everything I needed was in the package thank you. Only one bad part was as I was putting he mat in I cut myself on the jagged edge of one of the side rivets. Be careful when you work inside of the box.

by:

I bought this battery box a year ago, and it has been mounted on my trailer tongue since then. I love that I can lock the box and not worry about guys easily stealing my batteries. It looks really professional and built in by the manufacturer. I would highly recommend this battery box to anyone looking to lock up their 6v twins.

by:

Bought this after my batteries were stolen off the tongue of my trailer. Wish I had spent the money and purchased this battery box sooner. This box is of excellent quality, mounted easily and locks up tight. Although a bit on the costly side, the value of solid construction and quality finish make it a worthwhile purchase. The fit is also perfect for my 2 - 6 volt batteries. When I upgrade to a larger trailer in the spring, this box is moving over to the new unit.

by:

I installed on my travel trailer so I could add a second battery for dry camping. I add a cutoff switch on the side so I didn't have to worry about parasitic battery drain when storing. I thought I paid too much until I received the box and was impressed by the quality and sturdiness. If I even replace my trailer, the box will be transferred!

by:

Product is flawless. Only issue was the installation on my trailer, not the battery box itself. The angle iron was welded on the trailer a bit too close so i had to mount the battery box on top of it. Just created a few aluminum square stock spacers to get it to sit flush on top and ran some longer bolts though. I never worry about the batteries anymore. A side benefit was that where I store my trailer it gets a fair amount of sun in the PM so my batteries stayed nice and toasty last winter and didn't freeze (because I forgot to take them out until January!!!!)

by:

I went from 1 battery to 2 batteries since I was adding a power inverter. 2 batteries are expensive and are inviting to a thief, so I wanted battery security. Battery case went in smoothly. The back had a very large opening for wires. I used 2/0 wire to reduce IR losses to the inverter. Plenty of room to work even the thick 2/0 wires. Batteries went in smoothly. This case provides the peace of mind that my batteries won't get stolen... without a fight. Plus it provides a little extra protection from road debris that might get kicked up during towing. This is exactly what I needed for my trailer.

by:

This box is exactly what I needed. It securely holds two 6v golf cart batteries that I purchased from Costco and keeps them nice and safe from any potential opportunistic thieves. Also, big kudos to eTrailer on the shipping. I live in Indiana and ordered it one evening just before 6pm. They shipped it out that evening and it arrived the next morning by 10AM, wow! Good product, great service.

by:

Light and solid aluminum box. Easy to drill through if you are planning on mounting a switch as I did. Mounting was simple. Holds two Trojan 6V golf cart batteries on my popup with room to spare. My only criticism is that I usually have to jimmy the top a little to get the locking mechanism to light up and turn, very minor.

by:

The TLA7712R battery box is a well constructed product with several positive details including the battery acid mat and stainless steel hardware for mounting. I am upgrading our hybrid camper to function independently of shore power with (2) GC2-XHD deep cycle batteries which fit nicely into the TorkLift box. The etrailer staff was informative in answering my questions and the shipping was very timely. Thanks for your help; you have been an excellent resource for my project.

by:

I like the product however disappointed in the locking mechanism. To spend that kind of money and only have the all-to-common CH751 RV lock is kind of ridiculous. So now I will have to purchase a more unique lock and may even add a padlock in the center as I've seen others do. You can do better than that TorkLift. Also, there is a misleading dimension drawing. On one of the drawings it shows the 9-3/4" width at the bottom of the box when in fact it is 8-1/4". I needed to widen my bracket and re-weld and unfortunately used the 9-3/4" dimension and it was too wide causing me to weld in some cross-pieces. I've attached the misleading drawing. There is another drawing in the video that shows the lid dimension (which is the 9-3/4") and the dimensions w/o lid. You should be more descriptive of the bottom box dimension since this is what must sit on or in the brackets. There are other drawings that show the correct dimensions but unfortunately I went off the video.

by:

The box was mostly easy to install and keeps my two batteries secure. The only issue I have is that it's sometimes difficult to open and close. I have to rap the end hard to move the lid. But I would definitely buy it again as I feel my battery investment is secure.

by:

Box came very quickly. Batteries from Battle Born arrived a day ahead of box. Installing everything on trailer this weekend 10/9/21. If I can update review tomorrow after installation, I will.
One note…metal box arrived slightly bowed in on the back side but since that will be up against the RV and not visible, it’s not a problem.

by:

Nice looking box. Seems very sturdy and secured.

by:

Looks like a great product. Can't wait to install it and hook up my new lithium batteries! I've sent photos of the battery box to several other trailer owners and shared your information. Thanks!
