This thing is absolutely great! It is mounted on the boat trailer - the battery for the boat winch lives in it. The solar panel provides necessary amount of charge to keep the battery full even with daily usage. Highly recommended!

by:

This battery box worked out perfectly. Greg was awesome in helping me figure what I needed. Just to help clarify, the box does come with a 8amp power regulator. It's hidden under the solar panel and you have to remove the panel from the lid to see it, otherwise you would not know it's there.

by:

Excellent service and response. I had my order in a couple of days. Everything was as advertised. (as always). The battery box works perfectly for our use.

by:

Very durable battery box. Easy to install. Been using it for over a year now, and winch battery has stayed charged - so the solar charger must be working!

by:

Great product and easy to mount.

by:

The box is excellent works and performs as stated. Little pricey but it has worked well.

Installed on nose of car hauler to store a marine battery. Works great and looks factory. Battery used to operate tongue jack and lights. Paired with redarc charge unit, fused disconnect, and 120v charger. Charges while towing and when connected to AC. Would be 5 stars if the battery mounting was better. Comes with a fabric strap.

Item arrived in insufficient packaging, was rolling around in over size box. Battery box was all banged up and scratched up. Some of the pop rivets have popped out from shipping damage. Emailed etrailer several time about possibly some touch up pain and simple gift card so I could keep the box as is, make the repairs my self and get on with my project with out delay. Never hear back from etrailer

by:

This was the only choice I had for 4 batteries to fit on my Airstream behind the propane box. I had to tilt it forward 10 degrees to make it useable. My only issue is that I wanted a shorter version, because it limits my backing turning radius by 15 degrees on both sides, where it touches my taillights. Other than that, it works as advertised.

I leave my trailer in a remote location for six months of the year. I wanted the security of a lockable box for my batteries. I purchased the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Locking Battery Box, converted my trailer to two x 6 volt batteries and added the solar panel. Super great choice. The batteries are trickle charged when I am away and box is super secure! Installation was easy. I had to purchase two extension arms for the box as my spot was behind my gas tanks. Called the team a etrailer and they quickly the additional hardware. I also called about solar charging of the batteries. This team is super knowledgable and offered a tremendous amount of information.

This has been a great purchase and I have shared with my fellow campers too!

Thanks guys for all the help!

No more wanting to take the travel trailer out and go to find the batteries dead or even worse stolen. I would absolutely say this lockable battery box with solar panel is a great product and very well built. Even before I installed this on my travel trailer the sun was hitting the solar panel at an angle in the garage and I tested the for voltage, (19 volts DC). I was totally sold on the ability of this solar panel, the solar panel was in my garage and not in direct sunlight. Although I could have installed this box with all supplied parts and hardware I took it a step further, cut some angle iron and welded the angle iron mounts on top of the frame. Turned out real nice and looks real nice too! This box looks like it should have come with my travel trailer manufacturer. Very happy costumer, feel secure about the ability to lock up my batteries and they stay charged too!

Earlier this year I decided to upgrade my DC Power systems on my travel trailer. The project included two roof mounted 160Watt solar panels, 6volt golf cart batteries, and a 2kW AC Inverter. I chose the Torklift 5 battery security box because I needed to fit in 4 @ 6 volt deep cycle golf cart batteries. With this box, which can contain up to 5 batteries, I installed 4 golf cart batteries, and used the divider to create a separate section for my power junction and switch box. This was extra convenient because I wanted a secure space to install the source / disconnect switch and 300Amp fuse for my 2,000 watt inverter. (See pictures)

I had plenty of room to install an A/B/Both/Off marine switch, a common bus, and the 300 amp class T fuse block, safely segregated from the battery compartment.

The solar keeps the batteries topped off at all times, and the inverter will power everything in the coach except the Air Conditioning (which in Alaska I never use).

The Battery box fit perfectly between the twin propane tanks and the forward bulkhead of the coatch body. The securely locking cabinet will prevent theft of the batteries while in storage.

Love it !

TorkLift's battery box has exceeded my expectations. It houses four 100AH lithium-ion batteries that are maintained by the attached solar panel. The box was installed in minutes on my trailer and locks keeping the batteries safe from theft. The quality of the material and the workmanship are first rate. By using some additional solar panels I can now boon dock for much longer periods of time.

by:

I have 4 Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries installed in this box. They fit nicely with a little room at each end, ( as it is designed for up to 5 ). I installed a couple of 2x2 aluminum angles to keep the batteries in position. The box is great, keeps my batteries securely anchored and safely stored out of sight. The box sizing was a perfect fit behind my propane tanks. The lock on the box was a little sticky but I ground the tab down a bit and it works fine now. The aluminum checker plate has not oxidized and the black wrinkle finish is tough and durable. Just don't try to wax it. I'm still trying to get the wax out of the little grooves :)
5 stars all the way.

I'm using this as a battery box for my custom truck. I built a bracket to mount it to the inside of the frame. The box is ok. Upon opening the lid I found a couple of deep scratches on the back of one of the diamond plate walls. I get it... it's inside the box and out of view, but it still bothers me a little. The lid is finicky. When I rotate it down to close it, I have to "jiggle and wiggle" it before it is able to slide into the close (locking) position. My last gripe (so far) is the huge sticker with the TorkLift logo that's stuck to the front of the box. I paid a fortune for this thing, and there's no way I'm going to advertise for them on top of it all. It took a lot of effort (heat, goo gone, etc) to get that thing off. That alone is what motivated me to come on to review it. I also believe it is over-priced for what you get. After seeing it, holding it, and adapting it for my requirements... I should have just built one myself.

by:

Nice battery box, I have four golf cart 6V batteries, and they fit perfectly. If you use the divider there is room for other equipment like a charge controller, etc. I am using this for a small solar power system. I had to work with the lock a little to make it work, I shortened the strike lever and bent a little bit but no big deal. Nice product.

by:

I am so thrilled with this battery box. I was a little concerned about how well it's size would do on my relatively small 16+ foot trailer. However, it fits great and the quality of the box is excellent and worth the investment. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to include side wall liner to protect against accidental sparking while the user is trying to (clumsily) connect several batteries inside the box. However, I highly recommend.

by:

Perfect. Compact, sturdy, safe, and easily fit onto my trailer A-frame. exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. My two 6-volt batteries, with water filling system fit with ease. Thanks

  • Largest Battery That Fits in TorkLift TLA7720RS Battery Box
The inside dimensions of the # TLA7720RS are about 17 x 8 x 12. I've looked over a few battery sizing charts, and for a typical automotive battery, I couldn't find one that wouldn't fit. The same would go for the marine battery sizes I found. As long as it's a standard 12 volt marine or automotive battery, this box will accommodate it nicely.

  • How to Add Battery to Utility Trailer to Power Lights
To protect the battery and prevent theft you'd want to use a battery box like the Torklift part # TLA7720R which you can mount on the a-frame or in the trailer. Then from there you'd want to run the 12 volt accessory circuit of your 7-way to the positive post with 10 gauge wire like # 10-1-1 and run your lights directly from the battery terminals.
