Recommended Braking System For Flat Towing A 2016 Ford Edge

Question:

Which has an easier install on my 2016 Ford Edge, Invisibrake or SMI stay and play braking system? How is the wiring ran for these units, i.e. flat four for taillights and round 7 for braking system and turn signals? Tow vehicle is a 2014 Thor Chateau.

For your 2016 Ford Edge, the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional, # SM99251 and the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, # RM-8700 are both great systems. I think the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO is much easier for a do-it-yourself install and we have a video of the 2015 installation and visuals always help. It is our installers favorite because it is easy to install and works so well. The systems install and operate in a very similar way. The Roadmaster system is a great system as well and both will require the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, # RM-751475.

The wiring for this system is easiest to run 7 way to 6 way using a kit like the Hopkins Nite-Glow Tow Bar Extension Cord w/ Socket - Coiled - 7-Way RV to 6-Way Round - 8' Long, # HM47054.
