    • Specifically designed for use with surge-style trailer brake actuators
    • Hydraulic pressure is contained by wheel cylinder
  • Black paint finish

Specs:

  • Right-hand assembly - passenger's side
  • Dimensions: 10" wide x 2-1/4" thick
  • Pad lining: 44 sq in
  • Wheel size: 13", 14" or 15"

The unique free-backing design, patented by DICO, lets your trailer move in reverse without actuating the brakes. When you begin backing up, the brake shoes are firm against the drum, as in a braking situation. As you continue in reverse, however, the shoes turn with the drum until the lining pressure is released and you are able to back up freely.

These brakes are designed to eliminate friction between the shoes and drum when you are driving in reverse. A trailer breakaway kit will not be effective should your trailer disconnect from your tow vehicle when backing up.

I purchased 2 new brake assemblies for my boat trailer they arrived promptly and we're just what I needed. The brakes now work flawlessly. Thanks etrailer for great products and great service.

by:

product as described and fit perfectly on my #84 spindle ex lube axle. Everyone that I had asked questions to, provided excellent service and quick answers to my queries, thanks all.

by:

After purchasing a used boat I decided to take a look at the brake system on the trailer. To my surprise it was in horrible condition. Both side were so rusted up they wouldn't even move when the brakes were applied. I went shopping online to see what I could find. I came across etrailer.com and was extremely happy i did. The price was lower than anywhere else and free shipping . Brakes arrived in 3 days ! Took me a entire 10 minutes to put one side on. Fit was perfect. I do suggest purchasing new hardware...will definitely make the install smoother.

These breaks were just what I needed to get my trailer ready for a 1000 mile trip. I needed new wheel cylinders, but why not replace the shoes too. This product and price point allowed me to replace both!

Just returned from a vacation with the boat and the trailer brakes performed great! The trip was over 2,060 miles. Thanks for great products and services.

by:

5000 miles on my equipment trailer. Brakes work as advertised. No problems, etrailer shipping prompt and complete.

by:

I bought the mounting bolts in the same purchase in case I had issues, so swapping this out for original was a breeze. What a handy way to fix brakes,.... unbolt the old assembly, bolt in the new. Brakes were fixed in about 15 minutes! Can't complain about that!

by:

Thanks to the folks at etrailer got the right stuff and my customer was back on the road A plus rating from us Thanks...

by:

The product was fine, but my choice to repair a used tow dolly was poor. My tow dolly's frame broke in two in the middle of the Nevada desert in the middle of a 6300 mile RV trip.

by:

I installed these shortly before selling the boat and trailer but I can say the quality appeared to be good and they were straight forward to install.

by:

These were a perfect replacement for the rusted out brakes that were on my boat trailer.

by:

Awesome the way the brake assemblies were assembled and the drums had the races installed and still at a great price. Everything fit with out issue.

by:

Easily installed, good price and fast service. Numerous items have been ordered from E-trailer over the years and always was pleased with their service.

by:

Fast delivery, good product at a reasonable price. Just completed the complete overhaul of my boat trailer brake system with no problems!

by:

Everything works well. I will definitely order form etrailer again when I need stuff.

The brakes work good I haven't used the trailer like I thought that I wood

Have now ordered several things for my Heritige trailer and have been extremely satisfied. Will continue to do business with E trailer.

Good price, direct replacement fit, prompt delivery. What more could a person ask for?

by:

Great quality and it was shipped out quickly. This is the second one I have ordered and will order again anytime I need parts for my trailer. Thanks for such great service.

by:

Installation easy saved time and money fast delivery great company to deal with.

by:

Should work good in the application I am building.

by:

It is still too early to say whether this product exceeds the quality of the same product for the other brands, but at least I can tell it's not worse, because it is still working fine after one year of use. In general, I'm satisfied at this point and would recommend to other customers.

by:

This product arrived quickly, was easy to install, and worked as advertised. I would definitely buy this product again.

by:

Installed the brakes this weekend and it was easier than changing the components separately. Price is what drove me to this purchase and follow up emails from George J was great. Overall excellent purchase and service. Thank you guys again.

  • Replacement Hydraulic Brake Assemblies and Drums with 008-201-09 Casting Number for Boat Trailer
The 008-201-09 number you provided comes back on a Dexter Axle hub that we offer as part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ, a 12 x 2 inch brake drum. This hub uses a 25580 inner and 15123 outer bearing, so please check the reference numbers on your existing bearings to confirm that this hub is compatible. These hubs use a grease seal with a 2-1/8 inch inner diameter. Since it's kind of difficult to measure the inner diameter of a used grease seal, measure the OD of the spindle where the grease seal rides....

  • How to Tell if a Trailer Brake Actuator has a Lockout Feature
If you look at the actuators you have you should be able to tell if they have lockouts or not and what type of lockouts they are. A manual lock out model will have a lever and likely something stamped into the metal of the actuator indicated the positions for lock and unlock. A model that has an electric lockout will have a solenoid attach to the master cylinder at the back of the actuator with 2 wires coming out of it. I have included a picture with a couple of examples for you.

  • Can Free-Backing Hydraulic Brakes Be Installed as Replacements on Boat Trailer
You absolutely can install free-backing hydraulic drum brakes on your trailer. These will make reversing your trailer for loading and unloading a much easier process. You will want to make certain that you match not only the brake size but also the axle weight rating and mounting pattern. We offer free-backing brakes from Demco for 3500-lb axles, parts # 40716 and # 40715, as well as the Titan units you referenced, parts # T4071600 and # T4071500.

  • Can a Drum Hub Be Used with Hydraulic Brakes
Yes, as long as you have a 10 inch hydraulic brake assembly like our Titan Free-Backing Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assembly # T4071500 you could use the Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly # 84556UC3 with a hydraulic brake assembly.

  • What is the Difference Between the 10 x 2-1/4 inch Titan Free Backing Hydraulic Drum Trailer Brakes
The difference, other than cost, between the Titan Uni-Servo free backing Hydraulic 10 inch Trailer Brake Assemblies, # T4423400, and # T4071500, is that the # T4423400 assembly has Galphorite plating which delivers superior corrosion protection for boat trailers that are repeatedly exposed to water and sometimes salt water. Other than that these brake assemblies are constructed the same and will brake the same, the coated assembly will just last longer when used on a boat trailer.

  • Looking for Free-Backing Hydraulic Brake Assembly with 2-7/8 Inch Hole Spacing
The four inch spacing mentioned in the product descriptions is measured diagonally, but the side to side spacing is 2-7/8 inches, which is standard for a brake mounting flange on a 3500 lb capacity axle (see photo.) If you click the link, you can see the free backing hydraulic brake assemblies we offer for a 3500 lb axle. The Titan 10x2-1/4 inch Free Backing Hydraulic drum brake assemblies, part # T4071500 for the right side and # T4071600 would be a good choice.

  • I Want to Replace All of the Surge Brake Equipment on a 2002 Performance Boat Trailer
The surge brake equipment of your trailer consists of the brake lines, drum brakes and the brake actuator. To ensure I recommend the correct parts for your trailer I will need a little more information. A brake line kit is pretty universal. For a single axle trailer, I recommend using part # T4829900. This kit comes with all of the lines and fittings you will need to replace everything from the actuator to the brake assemblies. For an actuator, I would need to know what type of actuator...

  • Will Titan Hydraulic Trailer Brake Assemblies Fit in Place of Atwood Assemblies
The Atwood 10 inch electric brakes did use the same 4-bolt pattern as Titan free-backing brake # T4071600 for the left and # T4071500 for the right so you could use the Titan brakes if you wanted to.

  • Replacement Drum Brakes and Hubs for 3500-lb AL-KO Axles
You can use larger brakes and hubs by matching up the brake mounting pattern to your flanges and by selecting new hubs that use the same bearing set as your current hubs. Matching the bearings will ensure the new hubs fit properly on your spindles. The linked photo shows the usual location of bearing numbers. If you wanted to use 4-bolt AxleTek # AKEBRK-35L and # AKEBRK-35R electric drum brakes and if your hubs use inner/outer bearings # L68149 and # L44649 you could use hub/drum # AKHD-545-35-K....
