Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 Chevy Silverado, 4.3L, V6

Question:

I am wanting to install an aux cooler on my 07 Silverado, 4.3L, V6. I tow a small popup in the summer and with gear, people etc, will have about an extra 2500lbs total I am hauling. This is about 2200lbs under the tow capacity but I still want an oversized trans cooler since I have plenty of room to mount it. Also, is there a install kit that provides metal lines instead of rubber hoses? I live in Northern Indiana where winters have had regular temps of below zero lately so that may be a factor in which one you recommend. Thanks in advance !

The most popular transmission cooler for a 2007 Chevy Silverado (New or Classic) with the 4.3 liter is cooler # D13503. This cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. It is rated as a Class III which is what is recommended for vehicles with Class III trailer hitches.

Metal lines are not an option but you could replace the rubber hose with metal lines obtained locally. However metal dissipates heat more quickly and easily than rubber so it might end up working against you.

You will also need hose fitting # D13018 which will allow you to install the cooler without having to cut and flare lines. I have linked a video showing a typical installation and a link to our help article on coolers for you.
