Hi, there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this replacement spring bar for your Curt MV weight distribution system. This is going to replace one round spring bar for your MV weight distribution system. This is going to come in different weight capacities so you wanna make sure you're getting the right one. You can see list of our part numbers there on the screen for the different weight capacities for the different spring bars.
They are all very similar, but they just have slightly different thicknesses that give them that weight capacity. But they are interchangeable. So if you're needing to replace, if you're just needing to replace your spring bar, you can get the same weight capacity or if you have got a different trailer or your setup has changed and you just need to change the weight capacity, you can switch out the bars to a higher weight capacity or a lower weight capacity. They're all going to work with your MV weight distribution system. These are Curt bars, so you're not gonna have to worry about compatibility issues or anything like that.
So they are gonna get put into your head unit the exact same way. And then you've got the tray attached chain fastener and the chain here so that you can get those mounted onto your trailer exactly like your original system. So very easy to get this switched out, whether you're needing to replace that exact same weight capacity or if you're switching out your weight capacity. These are gonna be steel construction so they are very durable. They got the black powder coat on them have to resist rest.
So they're gonna hold up well for you. And it's really nice option rather than having to get a whole new weight distribution system. If you get a new trailer, you can just switch out these spring bars and that'll allow you to and make sure that your system is appropriate for your setup. So that's gonna complete our look for today. Purchased a smaller trailer (yup - downsizing)...our old trailer required a WDH rated at 8-10K...the new one only weighs 3000lbs so the stiff bars were just not working. A quick online chat with a support rep at etrailer showed me I could just replace the bars and save the expense of a whole new WDH.
These bars fit perfectly into the hitch assembly. Granted it is a CURT hitch, but it is quite old. I would double check the diameter of the pin end of the bar if your hitch is something else. While they all look similar (based on a walk around the campground) I'll bet they are not universal in size.
I wouldn't tow without a WDH. Even though our tow vehicle is way over rated for our new trailer it just makes towing so much smoother. As with anything like this do your homework, understand how to properly set up the system and you'll be happy. It is possible to create an unstable tow condition with an improperly set up WDH...you can remove too much tongue weight if your not careful.
These replacement bars allowed me to continue safely using my WDH at low cost. etrailer support is second to none and can help you get the right setup.

We will appreciate these spring bars on our next camping trip. Like most orders these days, there was a bit of a delay in receiving these, but we were constantly sent emails informing us of the delay and the change on the estimated delivery date.

The debate lately has been, does the 3,000 lb travel trailer need a weight distribution hitch. The jury is still out on the subject. All I can say is that i experience much greater control and relax my grip on the steering wheel a bit when I use the weight distribution hitch. I purchased these spring bars to replace the ones I was previously using that were for a much larger trailer, so hopefully there is now less stress on my camper’s frame. I’m very happy now knowing I have the right bar for the job.
