Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Electric Winch BDW20307 Review

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Bulldog wench wiring kit for ATV and UTV wenches. This mounting kit simply connects a wench to a vehicle battery. Very quick and easy to use design. This is going to be ideal for wenches that are portable, so if you have a portable wench, this kit will actually work really well. I'm going to go through the components real quick. Right here, you're going to get your negative and positive wire, black and red, terminal is already attached to it. These are going to measure 120 inches long.

These are your power leads with a quick connect. These would simply mount on the vehicle. These leads connect to the vehicle battery and then you would run the connection point to an area that allows for easy accessibility and mounting. Mounting hardware is not included. It is recommended to use quarter inch diameter hardware.

They got pre-drilled holes that go right there through the connection point so you can get that to a fixed location. That way when you're ready to hook up your wench, all you got to do is plug it in. When you're ready to disconnect, you unplug it. It also comes with 20 inch motor leads with quick connect as well. These leads connect to the wench. When you're ready to wench, you simply connect the two plugs together and you're ready to go.

When you're done, simply disconnect the plugs and place the cap over the vehicle end plug. It's going to keep out dirt and grime and that's all there is to it. Then the next time you're ready to use your portable wench, repeat that process of plugging it back in to get power to it. Wiring, it's going to be six gauge. It's also going to come with some zip ties, that way you can secure your cables in a safe inaudible 00:01:46 location as they run from the connection point here at the plug to the vehicle battery. That's going to do it for today's look at the Bulldog wench wiring kit for ATV and UTV wenches..

This kit is well put together and good quality. It powers the winch on my trailer from my truck. The plug makes for a easy and quick hookup. The plug cap keeps moisture out of the plug while it hangs under my truck. Highly recommend

  • What Gauge Wiring is Needed for Badlands 3500 ZXR ATV Winch
I was able to find a Badlands ZXR 3500 ATV winch that requires 6 gauge wire but I was not able to find an XTR. We do have a ten foot long 6 gauge winch wiring kit with the part # BDW20307.

  • Can Winch be Powered by 7-Way
The 12 volt power on the 7-way will not have enough juice for an electric winch so there's no way to use the 7-way like you wanted. The best option for your winch is really using a quick connect wiring kit, the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit for ATV/UTV Winches # BDW20307.

  • Compatibility of Warn 2K Winch with Wiring Kit and Stock Battery and Alternator in 2005 GMC Sierra
To mount your winch inside the trailer tongue tool box you will want to ensure that you have a suitable mounting surface underneath the box. The tool box material by itself is unlikely to be strong enough to support the load that will be put on the winch. You need to ensure that the mounting hardware for the winch goes through not just the tool box's bottom panel but also to a suitable portion of the trailer frame, which will have the strength to handle the load put on the winch. If your...

  • What Type of Wiring is Normally Used to Power a Winch
Hey Wilfredo, so winch's only need two wires to be powered. They need a power and a ground. However, winches draw quite a bit of amperage so you wouldn't be able to use a 7-way trailer wiring socket as a power source as it wouldn't be adequate. A winch wiring kit like the part # BDW20307 that you referenced would be what you'd need as it comes with a heavier gauge wire like what would be needed. With that said it also matters what winch you plan to use as they all don't draw the same amperage....

  • Winch Wiring Kit Recommendation for a Superwinch S5000 Winch # 1450200
Yes, the Winch Wiring Kit part # BDW20307 that you referenced is for winches with up to a 4k capacity so it would work well for you.

  • Winch Wiring Kit Recommendation for Powering Winch at Rear of Vehicle
I have a great solution for you but what you described would most likely not work due to the amperage draw of the winch and the amperage rating of that circuit. Typically the 12 volt power circuit of a 7-way is only rated for 40 amps and winches like yours can easily need more power than that. A kit like the part # BDW20307 will work great for what you are needing. This comes with long sections of 6 gauge wire and is designed for up to 4k winches.

  • How to Wire an Electric Winch to a Trailer or Vehicle Battery with a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500
First, the wiring normally used to provide 12 volt power (most likely would flow through that fuse you have found) is not large enough to provide an up charge to a trailer mounted battery. Also, the alternators on most vehicles do not provide enough current to push a charging voltage back to a trailer mounted battery. What it can do is provide a maintenance charge. This means that it will only keep the present charge level of the battery but will not add any more. There are a few ways...

  • Wire Gauge to Connect Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch to Battery 25 Feet Away
I contacted Superwinch for their thoughts on installing a Superwinch LT2000 ATV Winch such a long distance from the battery and they suggest using 6 gauge wire. We have a winch wiring kit with 6 gauge wire, part # BDW20307, that is 10 feet long. We also have a part # BDW20026 that has 24 feet of 3 gauge wire.

  • Wiring Kit Recommendation for Dump Trailer for Charging Battery
Dump trailer batteries are often very large deep cell batteries that take a pretty decent amount of amperage to charge. The 12 volt accessory circuit of your 7-way really isn't going to be able to put a solid charge on the battery. It will help maintain it but if you are looking for something to bring back the battery after operating the dump enough times that it starts moving slow there isn't a way to do that through the 7-way. You could use a winch wiring kit like part # BDW20307 or...

  • Winch Wiring Kit Recommendation for Badlands Winch at Rear of 2006 Mercury Mountaineer
The wiring kit you are going to need to go with is one that has a thick enough gauge to provide the amperage requirements of your winch and also has a long enough length to make it from your battery to the rear of the vehicle. Since I looked up the overall length of your 2006 Mercury Mountaineer and found that it's right at 16 foot I would recommend the Bulldog winch wiring kit part # BDW20043 which is 3 gauge and 16 foot in overall length.

  • Can The 7-Way On My Trailer Power The Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, # 1220210
The Superwinch LT2000 Electric Utility Winch, # 1120210, will need to be wired directly to the battery. You are correct the smaller gauge wire on the 7-Way plug will not be sufficient enough to handle the current of the winch. Two of the wires on the switch will connect to the winch. The other two wires on the switch will connect to the battery. The black wire will go to the negative side of the battery. The red wire will attach to the positive side of the battery using the included circuit...

These are the same ones included with the previously mentioned wiring kit. I have linked installation instructions for you and a link to our help article on wiring an electric winch.

  • Wiring Kit to Wire Up Winch on Trailer to Tow Vehicle Battery Solution
Best option would be a winch wiring kit like the Bulldog Winch part # BDW20207 which is 2 gauge wire and 24 feet long. This could be ran from the front of your truck (to the battery) to the back where another wiring could like the # BDW20205 to wire to the winch itself. This kit is 7-1/2 feet long. We have several different lengths available that you can see at the attached link. You would want to measure out what length would work best on your setup and then go with best matching options...

  • Winch Trailer Wiring Kit for Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000SR
To provide a permanent connection to your vehicle's battery for the Superwinch Winch 2 Go 4000SR # SW1140232, you can use the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit # BDW20307. This kit includes the 6-10 AWG connector needed to be installed on the winch wiring harness in place of the alligator clips. This kit comes with enough wire to reach the back of the vehicle. You can also use this kit for the front of your vehicle, but there will be excess wire. I have attached the installation instructions...

  • Correct Gauge of Wiring for Boat Trailer Winch with 10 Foot Lead
You will definitely need a larger gauge wire, like 4 or 6 gauge (sometimes 8 is acceptable), when it comes to a winch because they pull a LOT of power for a short time. If a winch you're looking at is only offering 10 gauge wire for a winch then I'd ditch that wiring and go with something better suited for the job at hand. For a wiring kit that uses 6 gauge wiring we have the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit for ATV/UTV Winches # BDW20307. This comes with a 120" lead for the vehicle side and a...

  • Can 12 Volt DC Trailer Hitch Wiring From a 7-Way RV Connector be Used to Power a Winch
The wiring in your hitch is not rated for use with the Master Lock Electric Trailer Winch # 2953AT. The wiring could overheat and cause damage to the hitch wiring, the winch, or even your vehicle. You will need to wire the winch separately. I recommend the Winch Trailer Wiring Kit # BDW20307. The kit contains properly sized wiring and connectors to make use of the winch easy and removable.

The Power Inverter, # WC3720, comes with two 6-gauge wires with ring terminals and alligator clamps. They are only a few feet long. This inverter can be hard wired and the proper gauge will depend on how long you plan to run the wires. For example, if you will be running the wires 8 ft round trip, then you will want to use 6 gauge wire. If you will need 9 - 10 ft of wire, then you will need to use 4 gauge wire. If the cables will be running 11 -21 ft round trip, then you will want to use...

  • Winch Size and Type for a Carson Deluxe Car Hauler with 5 Foot 45 Degree Ramp and 3500 Pound Car
I do not believe a hand winch is the way to go with a car hauler and a 3500 pound car. It is usually recommended that a winch have at least the capacity of the weight of the rolling load for trailer applications but the hand winch will need to be mounted above the bed and on a pedestal that will allow the handle to be rotated above and below the winch, much like a boat trailer. This would require some extensive fabrication. If you are looking for a good electric winch with enough power...

  • Can Vehicle 7-Way Connector Power a Light Duty Boat Trailer Winch with 11-Ampere Draw
The 40-amp circuit on your 7-way is really intended for delivering only a modest current to maintain an already-charged trailer battery while you're driving. It is not really intended for operating a power-hungry item such as a winch. A safer option and one that will let the winch work at its fullest capacity is a winch wiring kit like # BDW20307 that includes heavy 6-gauge wiring and connectors. You might refer to the linked article on wiring winches. Since I do not know the specifics...

  • Recommended 12k Winch And Mounting Plate For A Trailer Hitch Receiver
For a 12k winch I recommend the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW10039. Bulldog is a well-known name in the winch community and this specific model comes with a wireless remote that you can use to easily activate the winch from anywhere within a 100' radius. To get this winch mounted to your trailer hitch you'll need the Bulldog Winch Hitch Mounted Winch Mounting Plate # BDW20011 and a reducer. You should have at most a 3" receiver tube opening so I recommend double checking the opening...

Using the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210 to tow a motorcycle trailer and the Winch Mount Plate # C31010 to pull the motorcycle onto the trailer is a great idea! The multipurpose ball mount has a Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating of 7,500 lbs and a Tongue Weight (TW) rating of 750 lbs. That is a combination of both the ball mount and the 2nd receiver so you will want to make sure that you stay within those weight capacities. In order to use the # e98989 ATV winch in the 2 inch receiver on the front of your EZ Go golf cart, you'd want to use a Trailer Hitch Receiver Winch Mounting Plate like part # BDW20061R2. Keep in mind, the winch might have a 5K capacity, but you'll be limited by the capacity of the receiver on your golf cart.
