Installing Redarc BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D for Charging Trailer Battery
Question:
Im ready to buy the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 25 Amp for my pop-up battery but only have 4 pin wiring at the car and on the pop-up. I want to run a dedicated DC line with 10 awg or better from car battery to the rear bumper. Should I use a single pole socket or a double pole socket? One answer I read said use the 7 wire power another said that would not be enough amperage to charge the battery, only maintain it. I want it to be charging. Car is 2019 Highlander with 150 amp alternator. Thanks.

The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D that you referenced is a perfect option to not only maintain the charge on your trailer's battery but actually charge it up during travel. This is because the charger will provide a continuous output of 25 amps (much more than just running a dedicate wire from the tow vehicle's battery to a 7-Way connector). This particular charger also has the ability to accept power input from solar panels for added efficiency if you ever decide to go this route.
As for actually wiring this up to your setup you will want to start from the battery on the trailer that you're looking to charge. I highly recommend using large gauge wire (think around 6-8 gauge) so you don't lose much amperage from the Highlander's battery to the trailer. You can use 2-terminal quick connects like the Bulldog # BDW20047 at the end of the wiring to allow easy hookup between the Highlander and trailer.
I have attached a really detailed install video that's actually pretty similar to your setup that you can follow along with.
