Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox Replacement 2000 lbs TW SwayPro Spring Bars - BXW4014

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at these Blue Ox replacement spring bars for your SwayPro weight distribution system. Now this kit is going to include the two spring bars, lift chains, and necessary hardware needed to replace your SwayPro spring bars. Now, one of the really nice things about the SwayPro system is that you can simply switch out your spring bars, so if you get a lighter trailer or a heavier trailer make sure that your ride is gonna be nice and smooth. You can simply switch out the spring bars so that it's got the right weight capacity for you, rather than having to get a whole new system. So we do have lots of different spring bar sets that will range from tongue weight of 200 pounds up to the tongue weight of 2000 pounds.

So you just need to make sure that you're getting the right set for your setup's tongue weight. The bars do all look very similar. They are going to have slight thickness differences, but the easiest way to tell which bar set you have, they use a dot system. So the 350 pound bars.. are not gonna have a dot, your 550 pound max tongue weight is gonna have one dot, like we have here, so these are our 550 pound max tongue weight, but then on that list there you can see those dots on the right side, so it goes up to five dots for your 2000 pound tongue weight rating.

So just make sure you're getting the right one for your setup so that it's not gonna be too rigid, and it's going to engage properly for you. All these sets are going to work with both your older locking pin style pivot tubes, so they've got the divot there on the top, so your locking pin will grab onto that to secure these into your head unit. And they are also going to work with your newer style through pin style locking tube so that you can get that pin passed all the way through there to secure that, so whether you have the older style or the newer, this will work great for you. These are made here in the USA, so you can trust they're made to the high quality standards we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the U.S, but more than that, because they are a Blue Ox product, you can trust the are gonna fit right into your SwayPro system, and you're not gonna have any issues with it, it's just going to accommodate for either replacing spring bars that you already have, or adjusting your setup for that different tongue weight. So that completes our look for today again I'm Michael with etrailer.com.

Thanks for watching..

The product was as ordered but delivery took 2 weeks.

Delivered fast and at the best price I could find. Originally bought Sway Pro with 1,500lb spring bars believing I would be good with an 1,080lb dry tongue weight. Turns out 1,500lb was not enough to level truck once trailer was loaded full of all the stuff I "need" to bring camping. I do think the bars broke in because the truck and trailer were level when I first started using the Sway Pro. After a couple thousand miles towing, I noticed the truck now sat nose high and the rearend and front of the trailer were low with the tension maxed out on the 11th chain link. I will also point out the truck only has 13,000 miles on it so it could be a combination of the truck's suspension breaking in as well. Pretty sure these 2,000lb bars will put me back to level. Tow vehicle is an F250.

I’ve used etrailer many times, great people to work with.

In combination with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Hitch, these bars have done an excellent job leveling and controlling sway on our OutDoors RV 24KTS.

Our worst case scenario for towing is with two golf cart batteries, plus two 30 lb propane tanks on the tongue, our front storage area loaded with gear, and without water in the tanks (80 gallons of water storage aft of the axles). Measured tongue weight is 1450 lbs in that condition. While not common, we do occasionally tow without water. Going to the heavier spring bars gives us the security of knowing we won't exceed the 1500 lb bars that came with the original setup.

So far we've logged over 6000 miles on the unit from AZ to MT in the southwest. The hitch has done great even in the high cross winds of WY and MT.

Towed today in thunderstorm winds, it just flat out works. Almost 8k towing with it, pavement and dirt. Great hitch!

Great website, simple easy navigation, very specific. Top quality products with incredibly fast shipping. Customer service is second to none. Etrailer is the BEST!

Purchased new travel trailer and Blue Ox SwayPro weight distribution came free with TT. Dealer stated that 1,000 to 1,500 lb. Spring Bars were sufficient for 1,600 lb tongue weight of TT. Called Blue Ox to verify, they told me by no means should I be using 4 dot (1,000-1,500) Spring Bars. So , I searched on line for 5 dot (1,500 - 2,000) Spring Bars and found best price for them on etrailer.com! Arrived as decribed.

by:

First use today to take trailer to repair facility. Plan on weighing the complete rig on a Cat Scale after repair and on the way home. Measurements look good after installation and ride and control seemed better. Have made big changes in my hitch since the new trailer and first weighing was awful due to poor set up that is in process of correction.

by:

Excellent, fast, on time delivered once again from etrailer. Checked with Blue Ox (stock unavailable) and etrailer had these in stock and at a more affordable price. We upgraded from the 1500lb bars that were selected by our dealer with our trailer. The additional capacity is an increased feeling of control.
We will continue to research the reviews and look into this trusted source on our next item/items.

by:

I made this purchase due to a need for an upgrade in hitch weight. I called in to make the purchase and etrailer helped in every aspect. The product was packaged and shipped the same day and was received in 3 days, a day earlier than estimated. The item was well packaged and had no damage. I will continue to be a customer of etrailer due to their customer service and timely deliveries.

  • How to Determine Capacity of a Blue Ox Weight Distribution System?
I will be happy to help you. The Blue Ox weight distribution systems like the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BXW1500 all use the same head. The bars are the component that determines the capacity of the system. The Blue Ox has a dimple system on their spring bars. It is near the base of the bar where it goes into the head. I have linked a picture to show you where to look. No dimples means it is rated for up to 350 lbs total tongue weight. One dimple means...

  • Effect of Swapping Spring Bars on Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution
That is correct, you can swap out the spring bars on the # BXW0350 for higher rated spring bars. The head and the shank have a rating high enough to handle any of the spring bars. Changing the bars will alter the tongue weight range of the system which is what you want to focus on when choosing a system/spring bars. The gross towing weight will be 10x the max tongue weight in the tongue weight range or you could view it as the max tongue weight is 10% of the gross towing weight. For example,...

  • Blue Ox Weight Distribution System for 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Towing 10,000 Pound Trailer
To choose the correct weight distribution system you need to know the tongue weight of the loaded and ready to tow trailer, plus the amount of weight that will be loaded in the bed of your 2016 GMC 2500 behind the rear axle. A trailer's tongue weight is usually about 10 to 15 percent of its GTW, so you're likely looking at 1,000 to 1,500 pounds. The best way to determine your tongue weight is to weigh it using a scale like # e99044. Once you have this number add in the weight stored...

When it comes to replacing your 1,500 pound Blue Ox Sway Bars # BXW4008 to The Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System - 2,000 pound TW # BXW4014 is acceptable if your tongue weight of the trailer that you're hauling is between 1,500 to 2,000 pounds. • Clamp-On Weight Distribution System Needed for a Variety of Trailer Sizes
We do have a weight distribution (WD) system that will fit your various trailer size needs, but if your current trailer hitch/ball mount is already hitting the ground during some of the driveways you have to turn in to I'm not sure if adding a WD system to the mix is a good idea. The shank and head unit will hit the ground and if your driveways are steep enough I doubt the bars are meant to flex that much. If you are under 1,500 lbs of tongue weight you'll be best served going with the lighter rated # BXW4008. Being on the high end of a tongue weight range is much better than being too low for a system's tongue weight range as that would give you a very harsh ride quality.

  • Are Long or Short Torsion Arms Better for a Weight Distribution System
The reason long bars on weight distribution (WD) systems, like the Strait-Line # RP66074, are so popular is because that means the clamps for the trailer frame will sit about 30" away from the coupler. Typically this avoids items that sit on the tongue, like propane tanks. Short arms are a great substitute for when things like propane tanks get in the way. There really is no advantage or disadvantage of using long or short arms other than the location of other things on the tongue of your...
