Best Option For Replacing A Tie Down LP750 Brake Actuator

Question:

I have a 2017 Xpress boat trailer that came with a Tie Down LP 750 brake actuator, that is a bolt on for disc brakes. The tongue is 3” X 4”. The old brake actuator set over the trailer tongue. The bolt spacing on the tongue is 3” horizontally and 2 1/2” vertically. I am looking for a replacement straight tongue coupler brake actuator for a 2” ball, electric lockout, 7,500 GTW. I researched the Dexter DX 7.5L A-60, DX29 FR, but it appears to slide into the tongue in stead of over. If need be, I can send a photo of the trailer tongue. Can you recommend a brake actuator that would replace my original equipment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We do have a great option for replacing your Tie Down LP 750 Brake Actuator. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator # DX29FR that you mentioned can be used for a lot of different trailer tongue configurations. It can be slid inside a trailer tongue or it can be placed over the tongue, like for your application. It has the electric lockout, 7.5K capacity and 2" ball coupler that you are looking for. It also uses the exact same bolt pattern as your Tie Down actuator with holes 3" apart horizontally and 2-1/2" apart vertically. This definitely makes it the best option for a replacement, you may even be able to use the existing bolts, provided they are in good condition.

I have included the picture below to show you an example of this actuator installed over a trailer tongue. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
