Can Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers K71-654-00 Be Used To Replace Equalizers On 2003 Jayco Designer 31RLS

Hello, I have a 2003 Jayco Designer 31rls fifth wheel trailer. I would like to replace the stock cast tandem axle equalizers. The current stock cast equalizers measure more than 6.25 across the lower bolts center to center. I say more than 6.25 because my dial calipers run out of travel at around 6.25, but it was close to the centers where the caliper travel ends. The stock shackles measure just under 2.375 center to center. The axle tubes are 3inch with 8 bolt lug pattern. Both axle GAWR is 5000 on the vin tag. Wheelbase is 33. I would like to know if any of the ez flex equalizer kits would work on this trailer since the measurements dont seem to add up with any of the products I am seeing on here. It looks like the closest fit would be Morryde #MR87ZR with #MR46ZR, but if the Dexter kit fits, I may like it better.

There is a way to allow you to replace the factory cast equalizer on your 2003 Jayco Designer 31RLS 5th wheel trailer with the Dexter E-Z Flex Equalizers.

Since your current equalizers are just over 6-1/4" long you will need to use longer shackle straps to make up the difference as the # K71-654-00 only work with equalizers up to 6-1/4" long.

Since you mentioned your factory shackles are 2-3/8" long you can replace them with the 2-3/4" long # TRSL275 which will put you in the useable range of the # K71-654-00. If your factory bolts are in bad shape you can replace them with the # 166081. You will need 14 bolts and 8 shackles to replace all of the components on your trailer.
