Using Roadmaster Quiet Hitch with Weight Distribution System
Question:
RM061 How much weight can the device handle when used with a weight distributing hitch? I read on e-trailer to reverse the device in order to raise the up. I use an Equalizer brand hitch that requires the full tongue weight of the trailer to rest on the hitch , lock the trailer to the ball and then raise the tongue and rear of the tow vehicle in order to move the weight distributing bars onto their L brackets. Would the device be able to handle the 1000lbs that the tongue will apply to the hitch during hook up? I know once it is in weight distributing mode, the tongue weight is not an issue because the hitch is forcing the up as well.

The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 referenced in your question does not have a specific weight capacity. Because it will not be supporting really any weight during towing, there simply isn't a listed weight limit. With that being said, the unit should have no issue supporting any initial weight that might be temporarily applied when setting up your weight distribution system.
As you mentioned, when using this device with a weight distribution system, you will want to position the U-bolt around the top of the hitch receiver and place the bar on the bottom of the weight distribution shank. As you tighten the nuts on the Quiet Hitch, the shank will be pulled up toward the top of the receiver to help balance the downward force that is being placed on the hitch.
I have also attached a video demonstration that you might find helpful.
