Recommended Hitch Extender for 5,000 lb Travel Trailer with 500 lb Tongue Weight
Question:
Would it be safe to tow a 5000lb travel trailer with a 500lb tongue weight with this extension?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Some extensions are not safe to use for towing no matter the weight. I do have an option for you, but it does require a weight distribution system for your 5K travel trailer. I recommend the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST18. With the proper weight distribution system, this extension is rated for up to 7,000 lbs and up to 700 lbs tongue weight.
You will want to make sure your trailer hitch receiver is able to use weight distribution and the trailer and weight distribution system's weight on the tongue. For example, the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control 600 lbs TW # EQ37060ET is 98 lbs.
