Which Wiring Harness is Needed For 2010 Nissan Frontier Without the Factory Tow Package
Question:
I have a 2010 Frontier which does not have the factory towing package. I am confused on what wiring harnesses are needed for towing. The 2010 Nissan Towing Guide states that all Frontiers are pre-wired for trailer lighting, and the relay box under the hood has a 15A fuse for trailer turn signals, and a blue relay for trailer turn RH, and another blue relay for trailer turn LH. Does this mean I only need #118263 for connection at the back bumper, or do I still need # C56225 that goes behind the kick panel?

On the 2010 Nissan Frontier, if the vehicle did not come with a factory tow package it will not have a functioning wiring harness even if the Tow Ready Wiring Harness, part # 118263, is added. There will be relays that will need to be inserted to make the trailer wiring harness fully functional. The relays are not normally included on a vehicle if it does not have the factory tow package.
Usually, the relays would be installed in the relay box under the hood if it came with the factory tow package. The two small blue relays are for activating the turn signals and the one large brown relay activates the 12-volt power circuit.
Since your 2010 Nissan Frontier does not have the factory tow package, you will need to use the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness with Relays, part # C56225 that you have referenced. This kit comes with everything you will need to make the 4-Way functional, including the wiring harnesses and the relays that activate it. I am including a link to the installation instructions for you and a video of the wiring harness being installed on a 2012 Nissan Frontier without the factory tow package.
