Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion OEM is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion OEM is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
Installation of the B&W Companion OEM
To install the Companion OEM, first set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base. The above diagram gives an indication of where to mount the arms so that you get the height and the cab clearance that you need.
Then, when the hitch head is fully assembled, simply place the hitch in the bed of your truck, lining the base up with the receiver sockets in the bed. Rotate all 4 handles on the hitch base out so that the built-in puck receivers are in the correct position to install in the sockets. Once the base is lined up, fold the handles in until they are in the locked position and secure them with the included pins.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Ford F-250 Super Duty
As so many others have said, this hitch is fantastic. I have a F350 long bed with the factory puck system and the 2 work together seamlessly. The hitch has 2 main components to discuss, the lower portion and the upper portion.
The lower portion which connects to the truck fits as designed. I previously owned the B&W companion slider hitch with a short bed F250. While that was a great hitch, the slider base was so heavy and very awkward to get in the truck. This hitch is so much lighter and easier to move around.
The upper portion is classic B&W quality. It connects very smoothly to the RV and locks up tightly. No chucking or moving around. It also disconnects equally as smooth even on odd angles.
I have had this hitch for 1 year now and have been very happy with it. Etrailer was also very good to deal with. I ordered this hitch over the phone while I was at the dealership buying the truck and it arrived a few days later. Very happy with my purchase.

2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty
The Quality of hitch was great! My only issue is the lock washers for 1/2 diameter bolts are too soft and the internal diameter to large. The Lock washers would open as the torque was applied. We ended up using metric 12 mm lock washers. They fit the bolt shank tighter and did not spread during the install.

2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty
Just installed my new B&W Companion 25k 5th wheel hitch into my 2019 F450. Hitch was incredibly easy to install with all the etrailer videos and supplied instructions. The product looks well made and strong. The assembly instructions were easy to understand. The locking mechanism was too short for the castle nut to be tightened down and still get the cotter pin through. I removed one of two washers on the handle and the cotter pin fit through. The bolt/cam needs to be slightly longer.

2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty
We purchased a brand new 5th wheel & needed a bigger hitch ! We upgraded to a 24k GVWR DRV Toy Hauler (3" walls) and after much research & comparing features on various brands, we decided on the B&W 25k 5th wheel hitch. We will never go past the 24k lbs trailer GVWR, so no need for 27k or 30k. And it was important for our hitch to provide plenty of clearance above the bed rails, as B&W is higher than other competitors & rotational on all axis. Plus, even though this thing is a 2 piece unit, it is built like a Tank. We aren't gonna pinch a few pennies to pull this beautiful rig :) Bottom line: WE LOVE IT !! Definitely get the 25k B&W ! I ordered a hitch from another vendor because they said that they could have it delivered in a week. A week went by and nothing. I called etrailer and talked to them about what I needed. I love this thing. Simple and safe. No need for color changes. As the king pin goes in, the handle closes and you know it is locked. The other good thing is it is two pieces, each around 75 lbs, so no more pulling your back out or waiting on a friend to help. Pull the pins, rock back and forth/pull up and it separates. Good quality. I pull a 20,000 lb fifth wheel and it works flawlessly. The articulation on it is good and I really don’t feel much chucking. Overall a great choice!

After a year, it’s still working well. I have no complaints. It’s as advertised…two piece design that allows taking in and out. I place it on a tall cart when out so that helps. Id suggest reducing weight in a future design though. Etrailer is great to work with.

The Hitch is preforming flawlessly, it is as far as we are concerned THE best hitch on the market, strong sure latching, very well constructed and build in the heartland. There is little or no chucking from the fifth wheel, and if we didn't look in the mirror once in a while, we wouldn't know there was 38 foot of fifth wheel following us. We have towed approximately 5000 miles went to Yellowstone, Arkansas, Texas, with NO issues. Fantastic product. This year will see another 5 to 7000 miles. We previously had a RVK3500 companion that we towed a 38' fifth wheel 30K plus miles. This 3305 is preforming on the same excellent scale of our old hitch. 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Assembled and installed the B&W 25k hitch and it looks amazing! Haven’t towed with it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing as B&W always makes great hitches! One thing I wished B&W would annotate in their assembly instructions is the torque specs of the arm bolts, but that was easy to find online. On my 2018 F-350 long bed DRW I installed the arms to the max height at 18” and forward of the axle 3”. With that set up I’ll have to hook up and see if the fiver sits level and will clear the bed rails.
I do like the ease of the lock jaw handle as it opens and closes with ease and the entire assembly and disassembly is pretty easy and quick, rather than my old previous Husky 26.5k sliding hitch that was outfitted for my previous 2014 F-250 SRW 6.5’ bed.

2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Fast, free shipping. A great experience. Installed in a 2018 Ford F350 Limited crew cab dually 4x4 with the factory puck system. I first installed a Rough Country bed mat/and used a 3.25” hole saw to cut around the pucks. Looks great, hitches and unhitches easily, and feels much more solid than the superglide I had in my last truck (which was a short bed).

Great instructions. Easy to install. The video tutorials on product reviews, installation instructions, etc. on etrailer.com have helped me do research and to choose the right product for my needs.
This is the second B&W Companion hitch I have used to pull a 16,000lb GVWR 5th wheel trailer. The first was the companion to the turnover ball hitch, and this one is companion to the Ford OEM gooseneck prep system (puck connect). Just finished pulling our trailer home from the RV dealer. Worked great!!!!
