How To Carry A Generator On A Camper Trailer

Question:

I am trying to see if its ok to cut and elongate the tongue of my camper trailer to be able to mount a generator on the tongue? Will it weaken the trailer itself? Will it change the weight allowed on the tongue?

I may have an option for you but It is not a good idea to cut the tongue of the camper and elongate it. It will affect the structural integrity and the tongue weight of the trailer especially if you add a generator to the tongue.

It sounds like you have a pole tongue but if you happen to have an A-frame trailer you can use Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier for A-Frame Trailers - 300 lbs part # CC-255 to mount the generator above the propane tanks.

If you have a pole tongue trailer, you can use 24x27 TorkLift Lock and Load Maximum Security Cargo Tray for 2" Hitches 500 lbs part # TLA7752 which fits a 2" hitch and allows you to carry a generator. I have attached a video for your reference. If your camper does not have a hitch please let me know what you have and I can recommend a hitch.
