How to Mount 2 Batteries on A-Frame Trailer with Limited Space on Tongue

Question:

Hi we just bought a new Winnie and are looking to install 2 batteries to extend our off the grid time. Im having trouble finding something that works as the battery mounting area is either perfect for 2 batteries and too small for 2 battery boxes....the area we are working on is 21 length and 8 wide. the mount is in between the frames

I do have a possible solution for you but unfortunately there aren't any battery boxes available that will hold two 12V batteries and fit within a 21" length and 8" width. The closest thing we have is the TorkLift PowerArmor Locking Battery Box # TLA7708R which measures 26-3/4" long x 8-3/16" wide x 13" tall and as you can see from customer pictures the batteries fit in there pretty snug.

Your batteries actually don't have to be side by side so you could potentially put one inside your trailer or you could place one on something like the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier # CC-255 which installs on your A-Frame and sits 29" above the frame.

The NOCO Battery Box with Strap # 329-HM300BKS was made for Group 24 batteries but it does have internal dimensions of 10-1/2" long x 7-3/16" wide x 9-5/8" deep so you could potentially use it to keep your 12V batteries safe.

Jon G, I don't think it is legal or advisable to mount batteries inside the trailer due to outgassing of hydrogen. Jimbo

It's pretty common to store batteries inside a trailer - you'll just want to still keep them protected in a container/box.
