Largest Tire and Wheel With 4 on 4 Bolt Pattern for Long Trip

Question:

Largest Replacement Tires Possible for 1982 Coleman Sun Valley with 20.5 x 8.5-10 Tires. I am looking for a wheel/tire combination for my rebuilt 1982 Coleman Sun Valley camper. Today I have 20.5 x 8.5-10 tires load rating E on standard 4 lug, 6 inch wide rims. I would like to reduce the revolutions/mile without compromising on tire durability 6000 mile highway trip coming up. I would also like to increase trailer height. going off road If I can go to a 12 inch wheel by doing an over/under conversion for chassis/body/tire clearance, I would go that route. What are your thoughts / ideas?

So you may be able to use the over/under kit you were talking about to get the needed clearance (at least 3" of clearance from the top of the tire to your fender and at least 1" of clearance between the inside of the tire and your trailer's frame rail), but that depends on the size of your axle. If it is a round, 2-3/8" axle you can use the Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00. Sounds like you have a 4 on 4" bolt pattern, and if so you could then use the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel # AM35351DX and you'd have a great set up. This is a larger, 21.3" diameter wheel and tire combo.

Apart from that, the best recommendation I can make for your trailer with 10" x 6" wheels like part # AM20041 is to replace its tires with similar size, but higher-quality tires to what you have now. The best option which will fit this size wheel is the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP56 which is a 10-ply tire that has an 87 mph speed rating for your long trip.

I have added links to video reviews for you to check out as well.
