i have a spindle with some wear that is too deep to sand out. want to use sleeve for inner axle seal. not sure what size to get

There really isn't a solution we can provide aside from replacing the spindle since yours is damaged beyond repair. Since you have a 3,500 lb EZ lube axle the correct replacement spindle would be the part # TRU74FR.

I recommend taking it to a shop since installing a spindle does require precision welding.

We have confirmed with Dexter that the EZ lube spindles on their axles have a standard 1/4" pipe thread fitting that can be replaced with part #Gzerk.

For the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axle #AKHD-545-35-K you will want to use the Bearing Buddy #BB1980A for chrome or #BB1980A-SS for stainless steel. These protectors are 1.980 inch hub bore.

The #TRU77FR spindle accepts a 3 inch axle beam, and the spindle is designed to be welded into place. If the axle tube is painted on the ends, you'll want to take the tubing down to bare metal so you get the proper penetration on your weld.

The wires on the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Assembly #K23-478-00 are 12 gauge wires. We recommend using 10 Gauge Wire #10-1-1 from the trailer 7-Way connector to the brakes though to help ensure enough power gets to them.
