Tips for Removing Races from a Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly
Question:
How do you remove the outer race from the hub? I dont see any slots behind the race to knock it out the inner one was no problem. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Are you replacing the races in the hub? I ask because the hubs and hub and drum assemblies we sell come with the races already installed so you would not have to reuse the old ones.
Races are difficult to remove but since you have one out already you can go into the opposite side from the race still in the hub and use a wooden rod to drive out the race. I do not recommend using any metal tool (unless it was designed for this application), only wood, because if the inner surface of the hub gets scratched it is pretty much done and would have to be replaced.
We also have tool # PTW83020 which is handy. More for installing than removing but if your bearings or races match a diameter this tool is compatible with (1.565", 1.75", 1.965", 2.325", 2.47", and 2.555") it is a great time saver.
