Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with Factory Trailer Hitch

Question:

HAve 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. Has factory hitch that has worn out hole where hitch pin goes through. Want to replace hitch, but dont really want to put one on it that leaves the factory hitch on. Do you have one that replaces the factory hitch? What about V82672? something like that or one that is only 2? thanks

The factory hitch on the 2004 Dodge Ram is welded to the bumper beam on the truck. The bumper beam is a round, curved piece of steel. In order to remove the factory hitch it would have to be torched off and you would not want to cut off any of the bumper beam. The heat from cutting off the hitch could still affect the bumper beam so it is not advisable to remove the factory hitch.

I recommend going with a hitch that is designed to fit beneath the factory hitch, like # 41929 that you have referenced or # C15809 for a 2-1/2 inch receiver. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Curt hitch for you.

Valley has gone out of business so V82672 is no longer available.
