Hitch Extender Solution for Setup with Weight Distribution
Question:
I am towing a 2200lb dry/3500lb wet popup with a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited it will always be tower 3000lbs MAX inc passengers and gear. After picking up the popup using a standard 2” hitch I noticed that at sharp angles the jack on the popup cut into the spare tire on my Jeep. I will soon be installing a EAZ LIFT #1199DP1CHR 600lb tongue rating WDH. Will this allow clearance of the spare tire, and if not is there a hitch extension that would work at the least amount of towing efficiency cost that you would suggest? Thanks in advance.

The install of the weight distribution system you mentioned will add a bit more clearance between the trailer hitch and trailer so you'd gain a bit of clearance there. The best setup for a hitch extension type solution would be the replacement shank part # EQ90-02-4500 which is pretty long. The hitch extension like the part # ST18 is capable of being used with WD systems, but it reduces your hitch capacity by one third.
