Video Transcript for Review of Thule RV Awning Parts - Sealing Rubber - TH306892

Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the sealing rubber for your Thule HideAway Awning. Now, this is going to be that sealing piece that keeps water from getting down in between your awning and your RV or camper or your van, or if you have it mounted to a wall, keeping it from getting down between the awning and the wall. It's going to be a nice, very flexible rubber piece. This is 13' long total, and then it's going to be 2 3/8" wide.

It does come with some sealing tape so you can get that mounted up really nicely and securely. This is compatible with the Thule HideAway Awning's part number TH490011 and also TH490018. That's going to be the Thuli 49000 series. So should be a great fit for those. Keep all that water from coming down in between and doesn't gunk up your wall or cause any gaps there. Kind of defeats the purpose of having your awning if water's getting down between the surface that it's mounted to and the awning itself.

So we'll be able to eliminate that with this strip.Basically the way that you're going to install this is you'll take your tape here. They recommend cleaning off the surface that you're mounting this to so in this case the awning. The little channel here between these two notches in that material, that's where this adhesive is going to go. You'll want to clean off a strip that's at least this wide, about 3 cm., give or take, and make sure that that's nice and clean, free of any dirt or oils on your awning. Then you'll put down the tape on the material here.

Kind of squish it down in place. They recommend using a roller to make sure that you get even pressure going all the way across that tape. Once it's nice and fully seated onto your rubber material, set that on your awning. Start removing the other piece of backing off of that. Then again, just roll it out, removing the backing as you go.Now, this tape does cure over time so after about 20 minutes, it's about 5% fully adhered to the surface.

After 24 hours, it's 90% cured, and then 72 hours will be the full cure time for that adhesive. You want to make sure that you give it a little bit of time so that it can fully bond with the surface so that you get a nice, good watertight seal on that material. This is covered by a two-year warranty. Again, I'll put a ruler to this so you can see. It is 2 3/8" wide. That little channel that we're mounting our adhesive to is just about 3/4", and it is very flexible. Should be pliable enough that if you need to mount this to a wall that you'll have this piece on your awning, and then that can bend up against the corner of that and create a nice little slope to it.That's pretty much all there is to it for our ceiling rubber for your Thule HideAway Awning. Hope this video has been helpful determining if this is going to be the right piece for you. We do have a lot of accessories and spare parts for those awnings here at etrailer.com if you want to check those out. Thanks for watching.
