Connecting 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter for Curt Echo Brake Controller and Camping Trailer

Question:

2018 Kia Sorento, 6cyl AWD towing a Forest River A-frame camper. Im using the 7-pin adapter I bought to connect to my trailer. Lights, Running Lights, Turn Signals and Brake Lights all work great. However, the connection wont charge my trailer battery and my wireless brake controller Curt Echo doesnt get power. Apparently, I have to connect the adapters dangling black and/or blue wires to something, but to what and how? Many thanks!

On your 2018 Kia Sorento you will need to make sure the white ground wire of the 7-way is connected to your vehicle frame and you will need to connect the black 12V power wire to your battery. To do this you will use # 10-1-1 wire sold by the foot and a circuit breaker # 9510. You will connect the wire from the positive battery terminal with a ring terminal like # DW05705-1 and then to the circuit breaker in the engine bay using # 44-5310A then to that black wire on your 7-way using a butt connector like # DW05745-5. I've attached a video to assist. I've also attached an article to help with routing that power wire to keep it from heat or moving parts.

The blue brake controller output wire you do not need to connect nor do you need to connect the reverse light wire which is normally purple on your adapter to get that 12V trailer battery charge as well as power to your Curt Echo # C51180.
