Compatibility of Load Range E Tires To Replace Load Range D Tires

Question:

I just bought a 2008 Brookside by Sunnybrook 349FWSB. I need to replace the 10 year old 15” tires. The wheels say max load is 2600 lbs and the tires are D load rated with 65 lbs of pressure. Can I put E rated tires on these wheels and do I even want to?

Helpful Expert Reply:

You absolutely can move up to Load Range E tires for your replacements on your 2008 Brookside by Sunnybrook. Moving up one load range won't drastically impact the ride and make it too firm, but we don't recommend jumping multiple load range levels for that reason.

I recommend the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire # TR225LRE which is rated for 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. It will have a higher ply rating so it will have a more durable sidewall construction. It is rated for speeds up to 81 mph and has a 2 year warranty.

If you want a better warranty on the tires, then I recommend the Westlake ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range E # LHWL304 which is rated for 2,830 lbs at 80 psi and speeds up to 75 mph. It comes with a 5 year warranty and two years of complimentary roadside assistance.
