Curt Class IV Hitch Compatibility for 2018 Ford F-150 with Factory-Installed Hitch
Question:
I have a 2018 Ford F150 with the Factory 2inch Receiver Hitch I want to upgrade if I was to cut off the Square Factory 2inch receiver tube, would I be able to install/bolt on the Curt Class IV 2inch Hitch Item# C14017? I realize Curt offers a Hitch Item#14016 to be used with/in conjunction with the Factory Receiver Tube, but I dont like the looks of 2 Receiver Tubes and the replacement Curt Hitch would hang lower than the factory hitch, which I want to avoid. Thanks.

Expert Reply:
Curt 2-inch Class IV hitch # C26HR is intended for the F-150 with the factory-installed hitch, as you noted. At this time(July 2022), we do not have a hitch that will fit your truck without the factory hitch.
Factory hitches are built into the truck's frame in such a way that it is really not possible to remove them. They are integrated into the truck's construction and removing one, if it were possible, could affect the new vehicle's warranty. My contact at Curt said this is a step he would not recommend for a new vehicle like your F-150.
You might inquire of your local Ford dealership but I would be surprised if they said removing the factory hitch was allowed.
