Using a Trailer Tail Light on a Cargo Carrier
Question:
My wife bought a hitch carrier similar to the Pro Series Hitch Cargo Carrier - PS1040300 on your site. She would like me to wire in some lights to it, but hates the big, bulky trailer lights I brought home. Could this type of light be wired into a trailer type harness and plugged into my cars towing outlet? Going camping next weekend, would like to get it done this weekend...Thanks. Will be using on our 2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid so she wants it to look slick, not rigged

A clearance light like # MCL17RB will not provide you the separate running, brake, and turn functions. It will stay on all the time your running lights are on.
Another option instead is to use a strip light like # STL59RB. It will provide all of the functions however if you just install one it will flash regardless of which turn signal you're using. You can install two, one on each side of the cargo carrier if you'd like.
You'll also need to install a 4-way connector on the carrier like # HM48110.
