The most common cause for brake and turn lights to work, but not running lights, is a weak ground connection. Often a weak ground will allow enough current to pass to operate the brake and turn lights but not enough current for the always-on running lights which draw current continuously.

Once you have confirmed that the vehicle running lights operate properly, you can start your troubleshooting by checking the 4-pole connector on your Pathfinder.

Check for any signs of corrosion on the pins. Even a slight greenish or whitish discoloration on the contact surfaces can indicate corrosion that can inhibit signal transmission. If possible trace the white ground wire from the vehicle 4-pole back to the point where it attaches to the vehicle frame. Ensure this connection is tight. Ideally the ground wire should be affixed to a clean unpainted metal surface. If needed some fine grit sandpaper can be used to prepare the grounding point on the frame.

If you have a circuit tester like # PTW2993 you can test the 4-pole vehicle connector while a helper activates the various lighting functions. Please refer to the photo and video provided. Ground the tester to the 4-pole and test each pin as the light functions are engaged. The two turn signal pins (those for the green and yellow wires) should show an intermittent on-and-off blinking signal; the pin for the brown wire to the running lights should carry a steady signal when the Pathfinder lights are on.

Next check the mating connector on the harness for the lighting kit. If the contacts are clean and the connectors firmly seated together check that the plugs at the backs of the light assemblies are firmly seated. It is suggested to treat all connections with dielectric grease, such as #11755, to keep out moisture that could cause corrosion.

If you happen to have access to another vehicle or to a trailer with a 4-pole you can test with either of these to help eliminate either your vehicle or lighting harness as the source of the problem. I have also linked an article with troubleshooting tips for 4-pole installations.
