Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Stopped Working When Brakes are Applied
Question:
Out of the blue my brake controller stopped working. I hit the brakes the lights turn on on the trailer but nothing to the brakes. The controller light turns on saying it is hooked up to the trailer. It just doesnt send the signal when i hit the brakes. I have checked the wiring and that all seems to be fine. Any advice? On another note i have a remote start system, and it is not sensing my foot on the brake either. Thanks

Sounds like you have a blown third brake light fuse. I bet if you grabbed the override lever of the controller it would still activate the trailer brakes. An easy way to check this is to apply the vehicle brakes and check to see if the third brake light above the rear window will activate. If not then the fuse is bad and does need to be replaced.
I attached a help article on troubleshooting brake controllers for you to check out as well.
