Optronics MCL31 Series Amber LED Side Marker and Clearance Light with Reflex Diagram

P2-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for P2 rated light

A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.

Fit and works fine on my RV trailer.

by:

Work great on my motorhome.

by:

Perfect LED replacement. Worked great.

by:

I used this side marker to replace existing Bargman 99 series lights on a camping trailer. The Optronics LED model was not quite as bright as I would expect for a 6 diode unit, but still an improvement over the incandescent model. It is larger in size than the Bargman 99 series, so it covers up any surface imperfections on the trailer.

by:

I was able order the parts I needed and get them quickly.

by:

etrailer had what I needed, and it got here fast! Perfect!

by:

Easy install on my horse trailer. Nice and bright, just as expected.

by:

One of the best upgrades I made was switching the lights to LED.

by:

Excellent replacement

by:

These lights were used to replace the incandescent versions. Worked great.

by:

easy to order, and fast delivery.

by:

Great product, price and service, met all my expectations.

by:

I needed to replace some of the lights on my boat trailer. The old light were incandescent and some of the bulbs had burned out, securing screws were rusted. Product was exactly what I was looking for. Links on each product web page provided very good description and product information.

Thank you for great selection and process.

I am very happy, the lights are working great, with no issues. Thank you

by:

I removed a light of the same shape that had an incandescent bulb. This light did not require any electrical changes such as the addition of a resistor. It did require one new hole per fixture due to the holes not lining up with the holes from the old light. Also, the size of the screws/bolts that held it in place had to be smaller. I used 10-32 screws and lock nuts to secure it. This was NOT a direct replacement as I thought it would be. The 2 wires about about 2 gauges smaller than the original light. It works fine once installed. It caused added expense and more labor. Looks pretty much identical to what I took off but it is brighter and builds no heat when on. For the money, it was a good purchase.

by:

I was having problems with the electrical system on my horse trailer. Basically the marker and tail lights were all original (18 years old) and worn out. I believe they were causing shorts as well as drawing way too much current. We changed all the trailer lights to LED and the transformation is remarkable - no more braking problems, no more dim barely working runnig lights. The service from etrailer was excellent. Everything arrived as ordered and promised.

by:

replaced trailer wireing with thicker wire, replaced 4 side marker lights led, replaced both tail lights led, all worked and look good. I just hope these led lights last a long time. the lights I took off all worked, but were not as bright as I wanted, they were the original lights that were on my pontoon boat trailer.

by:

Good buy for a great side marker. Lamp comes with about a five or six inch lead wires that simplify electrical installation.

LED lights are bright and working well after a year of regular use.

by:

I was very fortunate to have purchased an all fiberglass enclosed motorcycle trailer from a friend who no longer rides. Over the years I have updated to all LED lighting and replaced all hardware to marine grade stainless. I live in the tropics with high humidity and plenty of salt erosion, therefore, this is further protection against corrosion. LED lights purchased from your company we’re not only reasonably priced but excellent quality...

by:

Great lights. I get asked about them everywhere I go. Super bright and being led they are have very low amp draw. I led a small caravan once in heavy rain. Those that were behind me could not believe how well my trailer lights blasted through the rain.

by:

LED lights are the way to go. The reflective marker lights are great for times when the lights aren't on yet headlights will reflect off them letting the driver know there is something there. The only thing would be better on these lights would be a better ground.

by:

A good light that is perfect on my motorcycle camping trailer, gives off ample light for others to see because a motorcycle can sometimes be more difficult to notice than a larger vehicle. These are replacing old original incandescent lights, thay are brighter and use less electricity making it easier on the motorcycles electrical system. The product is as described on etrailer and arrived on time and in good condition.

by:

These items arrived in loosely in a box with only a single sheet of brown paper as packing. Several lenses have minor scratches from the transit, but probably nothing compared to what they'll be getting once mounted on my trailer.

At the moment there is 11" of snow on the ground and the temperature is 7F, so it will be a while before I go out and replace all the incandescent lights with these LED units on my trailer. I'll edit this when I'm done.

by:

Easy to install on my trailer. LED is the way to go!

by:

Excellent set of lights for my horse trailer. Installation was easy and the brightness of the LED lights is outstanding. No more replacing bulbs or cleaning contacts for the bulbs to work properly. Etrailer shipping was fast and all products were excellent.

by:

The lights work great, very bright. Easy to connect the wires and mounting was a breeze.

  • Recommended Round Trailer Fender and Lights for 14 Inch Wheels on 2016 Forest River R-Pod Trailer
No photo came through, so I did a little research on your trailer to attempt to get the missing visual. I recommend the CE Smith Single Axle Trailer Fender- 14" Wheels - Qty 1 # CE17900G for your 2016 Forest River R-Pod 180. It will need to be primed and painted black to match your trailer or powder coated like the original fender. You may want to consider the mounting brackets # CE26098G-2 if your mounts were damaged as well. For the marker lights, I don't know the size you need,...

  • Replacement Trailer Clearance Light with 3 Inch Centers
The best replacement clearance light we have for you is the Oval LED Trailer Clearance Light part # MCL31RB for red or part # MCL31AB for amber. This light measures 4" long x 2-1/16" wide x 1" deep and mounts on 3" centers. It has a wire for power and a wire for ground but it won't be much work at all to run the new ground wire. It features 6 LED diodes and has a reflective housing. I have attached review videos for you as well.

  • Troubleshooting Running Lights Come On Then Shut Off On Trailer
It sounds like you either have a weak/bad ground or your lights are drawing too much power. In order to find the problem lets start by double checking the connector on your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993, check for power on the running light circuit. More than likely you have constant power here and the issue is on the trailer side. If it is on the trailer side I would start by inspecting the connector. Make sure it is free from debris and corrosion. From...

  • Parts Needed to Replace Trailer Wiring and Lighting on a 1997 Coleman Sea Pine
To completely rewire your cargo trailer, I would recommend picking up a trailer light kit like the Standard Light Kit, # TL5RK, or # TLL9RK for LED lights. These kits include all necessary wiring and hardware needed to install the lights on your trailer. The LED light kit does not include clearance lights. To add clearance lights, I would recommend using # MCL31AB. The best option would be the LED lights because they only use a fraction of the power that the incandescent lights use....

  • How to Wire Black and White Wires on Side Markers Using Wishbone Harness A35W42B
To wire a side marker or clearance light that has a two wire design like # MCL31AB, the white wire needs to be grounded to your trailer frame while the black wire which is for power needs to be connected to your running light circuit. On a wishbone style trailer harness like # A35W42B the running light circuit is split into two which is why you see the green/brown on one side and yellow/brown wire on the other side of the trailer. • Are Optronics LED Lights Quality Lights
Lights like the # MCL31AB and # MCL31RB are cheap but that is the nature of a small clearance light in this style. I wouldn't really expect better performance from any other brand. I know it happens, but we don't really see complaints about the lights burning out. Optronics lights are backed by a lifetime warranty on the LEDs so a light like your # BUL52CB is covered under and can be replaced. For the clearance lights I would try switching to the Thinline LED Clearance and Side Marker...

Yes, the Oval LED Trailer Clearance, Side Marker Light, # MCL31AB, can be wired directly into the trailers existing taillight wire, just like the incandescent light you are replacing was wired in.
