The unique free-backing design, patented by DICO, lets your trailer move in reverse without actuating the brakes. When you begin backing up, the brake shoes are firm against the drum, as in a braking situation. As you continue in reverse, however, the shoes turn with the drum until the lining pressure is released and you are able to back up freely.
These brakes are designed to eliminate friction between the shoes and drum when you are driving in reverse. A trailer breakaway kit will not be effective should your trailer disconnect from your tow vehicle when backing up.

Fit most 14", 14" and 15" wheels.I was about to repair the old brakes when I discovered that the full assemblies were available at a reasonable cost. These dropped right into my 1999 Bayliner trailer, and in short order I had a full refresh of the system (along with a new surge hitch, reviewed separately).
The trailer brakes worked out great. After an initial “hiccup” I received the correct parts and they went on smoothly and have performed great. Thank you for you assistance it really made the project work as intended.
Product works as advertised. The hardest part was bleeding the system prior to use.

Nice upgrade for my older boat trailer to avoid the hassle of locking out the brake actuator for backing.

Flawless first season on the road !
This product perfectly replaced my tongue master cylinder on my 1992 Capri boat trailer. It bolted right up and the brake line thread was the same. It was super easy. It is a huge improvement!
received the backing plates one day ahead of schedule. Installing tomorrow.

The product fits perfectly on my VM trailer. The only issue was my brand new Craftsman 3/8 Flare wrench would not fit onto the bleeder nut. Fortunately, it is new right now and i can use any wrench to turn it. It will not be easy to bleed the line in the future once the part gets older and the nut will be tough to loosen.

i changed my tow trailer brakes from electric to hydraulic and they worked perfectly. they are much better than the electric ones and i dont have to worry about a controller. great product
