I added a 3rd axle to our 2022 Salem FSX 270 TOY HAULER with K71-360-00
It worked AMAZING !! It fixed all the swaying problems and rides INCREDIBLE!!
Thanks again and I highly recommend etrailer.com!!

I havent installed the kit yet but i have installed another kit abour 5 years ago. I am very pleased with the product. The shackles are twice as thick as previous. These new ones also have the bronze bushings installed with the 12 bronze bushings for my springs. Would recommend to another customer. The shipping was expedited efficiently and timely. Arrived quickly for regular free shipping. Thanks . Probably looking at buying 3 axle disc brakes from etrailer shortly.

by:

item was a perfect fit for a 2008 Heartland Cyclone. the measurements on description were a big help. Would definitely buy again.

by:

Awesome package!! I don't know why trailer manufacturers don't use the best when they build them. Everything fit perfect period way stronger than original equipment. Nice to be able to grease fittings no more nylon to wear out.

by:

Great service, rep was very helpful, kit installation was simple,a much better product than what came on the trailer

by:

Fit great, arrived quickly

by:

The order delivered was on time. However, being shipped all the way across the country and being a heavy package — the packing box was beat up and one small I item was lost. So I call the main number and talked to a company rep— looked up my order and they had the missing item in the mail that day. I received the part two days later. They were very professional and nice people to do business with. Thanks

by:

This is a great kit at a good price. Huge improvement over what my rv came with. No more worries

  • Recommended Suspension Hangers for Use with Dexter Suspension Kit K71-360-00
There are different hangers that you could use with the Dexter heavy duty suspension kit # K71-360-00. To achieve 4-1/2 to 5 inches clearance between the trailer frame and axles you could use 6 of hanger # 28-5. To achieve 3-1/2 to 3-1/4 inches clearance you could use 4 of front/rear hangers # 115917 and 2 of center hanger # 115918 but these are usually found on lower capacity axles. These are going to be the most common set ups and should work well for you.

  • Where Does Third Axle Normally Install When Adding Axle to Tandem Axle
The best axle location will be the location that allows the tongue weight of the trailer to be between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight. We realize that's really hard to determine in your current situation since the trailer isn't built yet, but I did attach a link to a page that has info and formulas to help once you get to a place where you can place the axles. In general though when adding a third axle to a tandem the two axles would need to be moved forward a bit. A great...

  • Leaf Spring and Hanger Kit Recommendation for 7k Triple Axle
We have one double-eye leaf spring that has a 7,000 lb axle rating. For that you would want the part # e64SR. The hanger kit you would need then to go with that is the Dexter Heavy Duty kit part # K71-360-00. The axle spacing will be 33 inches which is pretty close to the dimension you listed but short by 3-3/4 inches.

There are two alternatives available, one that's a sure thing and one that's a possibility, depending on the current height of your spring hangers. The # RR23QX Tandem axle lift kit will bolt right up, providing almost 2 inches of additional lift with no welding required. Depending on the current height of your front, back and center spring hangers (measure from the center of the bolt hole that secures the spring to the underside of the frame member where the hangers mount) taller hangers...

  • Recommended Heavy Duty Suspension Kit For Triple Axle Toy Hauler W/ 33" Axle Spacing
You are right on. Since you have 33" axle spacing and 6000lb axles on your triple axle toy hauler I recommend the Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 as it was designed to work with trip axle trailers with 33" axle spacing and axles up to 7000lbs each. The # K71-360-00 may ride a little rougher than your current setup since you are wanting to get away from the cushioned equalizers, but will give you the strength you are looking for.

  • Upgraded Suspension and Replacement Bearings for Tandem Axle Travel Trailer
Because the RV manufacturers don't keep a database for that information, I have no way of looking up the suspension geometry of your travel trailer. I was able to determine that you have tandem 3500 lb axles that would use an L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearing which are available individually or in a kit as part # BK2-100. The kit includes the inner and outer bearing, the inner and outer race, the grease seal, the tang washer and a replacement cotter pin. To determine the correct suspension...

  • Will Adding a Third Axle to A trailer Affect Its Tongue Weight
Assuming that the way the load is distributed on the trailer isn't changing, adding the third axle shouldn't have much of an effect on the tongue weight. It will however better disperse the weight of the trailer down to the ground, resulting in less wear and tear on the suspension and running components like wheels, hubs and bearings assuming that the load on the trailer isn't increased.

You can absolutely add a 3rd braking axle to your trailer. You will simply want to match your current axle for dimensions and capacity. I've linked the page to your options we carry to assist. Then you will need to change your hanger locations so, I recommend using the Triple-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs - 1-1/2" Front/Rear, 2-1/2" Center # APTT3 and I've attached a help article to assist with the placement. • What Should Hanger Spacing Be on Triple Axle Trailer Dexter Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 5,200LB Axle
The Hanger # 28-5 spacing for the Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 on your triple axle trailer is going to depend on the length of the leaf springs you are using. With the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e76SR having a length of 24-7/8" this means you will need your hangers spaced 29-1/2" from the center hanger to front and rear on center. The center hangers will be spaced 34" on center.

  • Proper Loading of Triple Axle Trailer to Minimize Sway
The fact that your modified trailer has a third un-braked axle added in front of the two braked axles will not directly affect sway. Nor will the fact that it seems to balance pretty well on its own without a load. Trailer sway, or the lack of it, is mostly a function of load distribution. If the loaded trailer is too light at the tongue (too heavy at the rear) the rear of the trailer will tend to swing like the pendulum on a grandfather clock. Tongue weight (TW) should always stay in...

  • What Causes Trailer Suspension Equalizers to not Sit Level
The amount of tilt I see in the pictures you submitted of your equalizer isn't too bad. That could easily be from the trailer not sitting perfectly level. If the trailer is level and it's still tilting this can be solved in one of three ways. You either go with shorter leaf springs, a shorter in width equalizer, or you move the rear and front hangers out about half inch.

  • Is 34" Axle Spacing Okay for the Dexter Axle Suspension Kit # K71-360-00
The Dexter Heavy Duty Suspension Kit # K71-360-00 is designed for 33" axle spacing. Since your current spacing is 34" this kit should fit just fine with your current hanger spacing. I have attached a picture showing what this kit should look like once installed. If you are wanting to get precise with your fit and measurements then I would need to know the length of your leaf springs (center-eye to center-eye) when your trailer is unloaded as well as the weight capacity of your axles.

Judging by what you listed it looks like you have a triple axle setup that uses 3,500 lb axles. So lets first start with leaf springs. For that you'd want the 3,500 lb springs part # e54SR which matches the length of what you have now and the capacity. When picking out leaf springs for a trailer priority one is the proper capacity. The hanger kit part # K71-360-00 would then work well with this spring as well. If your older springs were worn out and sagging because of that these would eliminate the sag.
