Video Transcript for Review of CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring - CE10981

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a real quick look at the CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring. This retainer ring is going to help you mount a wobble roller to your boat trailer's roller bunk. And the zinc plated steel construction is sturdy and long-lasting. And this is designed for holding a roller on a one and one eight inch and three quarter of an inch shaft size. And the diameter of this ring is three 16ths of an inch.

And this ring would need to be installed using a pair of pliers, or any tool that can help you bend the ring into place around that shaft. That's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

I had to replace 8 rollers on my boat trailer, the rollers came on time like etrailer said they would and the ones I purchased fits my easy loader trailer perfectly.I pulled one hog ring off,and yes it snapped in half so I got ahold of etrailer again and got the heavy-duty hog rings got them today on time and they worked perfectly,I ordered the hog ring pliers forget buying them they will not work with the heavy rings.I used a vise to bend the rings close to a snug fit the placed them in the holes and used a set of channel locks to finish the job works perfectly, hope this helps other people out. Thank you etrailer associates for your help, will keep you in mind for future orders!

Everything is in excellent working order! Thanks for your help!!

Very nice retaining rings! Tough as nails. They are really hard to crimp, but when they are on, there is no doubt they are not going anywhere.

by:

These retainer rings (hog rings) are a perfect fit for my trailer that has 3/4" rods that the wobble rollers fit on. I searched all over and finally found them on etrailer...where I obviously should have started my search for anything dealing with a boat trailer!

The Wobble Roller Retainer Rings bull rings, to me have held up perfectly on the rollers for my sailboat trailer. Great product!

by:

I bought everything I needed to rebuild my boat trailer from etrailer and have been very happy with the product and service. Was a successful rebuild, trailered my 18 Ft boat four thousand miles around Florida and back to Massachusetts on a fishing adventure with no issues.

by:

I love ordering parts from etrailer. I know they are quality parts and exactly what I need.

by:

Delivery was quick and the roller and clips look of very good quality.

by:

These worked well in replace my old boat trailer rollers that were all rusted. Easy to install.

by:

Great product good price

by:

Thank you so very much for immediately standing by delivery of our order. Our previous package must have been stolen, as we never received it . When I reported this to your company, I was immediately assured it would be reordered an shipped to me. Package received!!!! Thank you very much. Now we can repair the trailer.

Great

by:

Got exactly what I ordered in a reasonable time frame

by:

Just what I needed and it was processed and shipped very quickly. I will definitely order from here again with any trailer needs.

by:

They are installed and the trailer rollers stayed in place. Service was good and the product was what I expected.
The only issue was getting the right pliers to install the keepers

No problems still working like new

by:

Needed these to replace rusted, worn clips on my Sea Lion trailer. Perfect fit, and the videos to help install were very useful. Great customer service too. Parts arrived quickly, and were nicely packed. Thanks etrailer!

Working as stated after one year, all is good so far

by:

Requires a lot of pressure to install on the Wobbly Roller. I am not sure what tool would have made the installation easier. The angled hog ring pliers were too small.

Great!

by:

Tried to use these clips but they were impossible to crimp. I was replacing rollers on boat trailer. Not even my channel locks could budge these. Went with axle caps instead. Much easier to use. The reviews for special crimping tool for these got poor reviews overall. You can't really get a good grip with the channel locks because of the overlapping edge of the rollers that get in the way.

by:

I installed these on my boat trailer and they were absolutely perfect for my needs. The rollers are now functioning 100% and I no longer have any rubber roller marks on the boat. A perfect solution to imperfect rollers.

by:

Great Prices and selections. Very good correspondence with a slight delay on the order. Very prompt in receiving the order once stock was in. The Wobble wheels and the locks went on well. The replacement locks were of a better quality than what I took off. It caused me to grind the washers a little to make it all fit. It was a quality install, if I say so myself. Keeping Etrailer.com as a go to parts store.

by:

The wobble roller retainer rings should be a must have for anyone with rollers on there trailer. Over time I have replaced almost all my rings ., especially if you use your boat, like me in salt water.

by:

Replacement trailer rollers and parts were exactly as described and arrived as scheduled. I would order again as needed

by:

Measured and ordered the parts to replace the rollers on my EZLoader trailer. Shipment showed up super fast and was able to get it done right the first time. There is a helpful video on you tube that shows how to install these rollers. My boat now glides on and off my trailer!
Thank you for the great service!

by:

Just finished installation on ez loader trailer, nice fit, easy install.Used to replace 33 year old rollers that were shot.By doing so lifted boat up a couple of inches so it is no longer dangerously close to fenders. Can't comment yet on performance or longetivity but appear to be a decent product.I appreciate the speed with which they arrived, might be able to enjoy a couple more weeks on the water. The hog rings overall were larger than the existing but worked fine on 1" shaft. Thanks

by:

The items I received were exactly what I wanted, being that my boat trailer is 30 yrs old. The rubber rollers were the same exact size as the ones that were 30 yrs old. Also, the shipment arrived way before I was expecting it. I will continue to shop at etrailer.com

by:

Very nice cut of metal. Worked with ease

by:

This is what I needed and work great! I had to replace my rollers on my EZloader trailer that is 30 years old.

  • Are Parts Available for Yates 5 Inch Wobble Rollers?
We carry boat trailer hardware though not all parts for the Yates Ribbed Wobble Roller 5" Diameter # YR500YW-6P. • Key Dimensions for Selecting Boat Trailer Wobble Rollers
Boat trailer wobble rollers like # YR500YW-7P and not trailer-specific or brand-specific so if their dimensions match up you'll be fine using them as replacements. The key things to note are the size of the shaft hole in the roller, which is about an inch so that it fits well on a 7/8-inch diameter roller, and its overall diameter (5-inches) and width (3-inches). Clips like part # CE10981 are crimped on the ends of the shaft to keep the roller in place using Angled Hog Ring Pliers # PTW88003.

For your tires and wheels, I recommend the Provider ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 15" White Mod Wheel - 6 on 5-1/2 - LR...

  • Wobble Roller, Hog Ring and Washer for an EZ Loader Boat Trailer
The Yates Ribbed Wobble Roller, # YR500YW-8PEZ, is exactly what you need for your 1999 EZ Loader boat trailer. The bushings are included with this roller. For a hog ring, we offer part # CE10981 and you can use part # SW1000 for a washer. At this time, we do not have wobble roller sets or kits that fit a 1 inch shaft.

  • Are Special Tools Needed to Attach Wobbler Rollers to a Shaft Using Retaining Rings
I have tried to use channel locks before and they do not work all that well. You need what are called hog ring pliers such as # PTW88003. These pliers also come with fasteners but for boat trailer rollers you would want to use a retainer ring such as # CE10981 as an example.

  • Replacement Wobble Rollers for Boat Trailer
It's sounds as if you're looking for wobble or rocker rollers. I don't have anything with the exact dimensions you mentioned, but the Yates # YR530R-8P in heavy duty rubber or the # YR500YW-8P in TPR (thermo plasticized rubber) come very close. Both rollers measure in at 5 inches in diameter and 3 inches wide. Clips like part # CE10981 are crimped on the ends of the shaft to keep the roller in place. We don't carry a washer compatible with a 1 inch diameter shaft.

  • Shoreline Boat Trailer Wobble Roller Recommendation
Looks like you have the Yates Ribbed Wobble Rollers part # YR530R-6P installed on your Shoreline boat trailer. We do not carry any pieces that are internal of the roller like a bushing if that is what you are referring to. We carry the retainer rings part # CE10981 and the wobble roller washers part # CE10983, but if you need a different part of the wobble roller replaced you will have to go ahead and replace the entire roller.

  • Boat Trailer Wobble Rollers for 1 Inch Diameter Shaft
Judging by the diameter of the shaft the roller fits on, I'm assuming you're needing a wobble roller. We offer two different wobble rollers that will fit a 1 inch shaft, part # YR530R-8P which is black rubber, and is 5 inches in diameter and # YR500YW-8P which is TPR (thermo plasticized rubber) and is also 5 inches in diameter. You'll also need the retaining clip, part # CE10981. We sell the rollers individually, not in packs with multiple pieces. You can see product demonstration videos...

  • Wobble Roller Along With Washer And Retaining Ring
The Yates Ribbed Wobble Roller - Heavy-Duty Rubber - 5" Diameter - 1-1/8" Shaft # YR530R-9P is normally retained with the CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring - Zinc-Plated Steel - Qty 1 # CE10981 along with the CE Smith Wobble Roller Washer for 1-1/8" Shaft - Zinc-Plated Steel # CE10982. This is the only retainer ring we carry with the exception of the ones that come with the Angled Hog Ring Pliers # PTW88003.

  • Can a Wobble Roller on a Boat Trailer Be Held In Place Using Only Retaining Rings
A wobble roller retainer ring such as # CE10981 can work to hold the roller in place provided you are using the right size ring for the shaft of the roller. For example # CE10981 will fit a 3/4 inch and 1-1/8 inch shaft. You would want the weight evenly distributed to avoid uneven wear and the potential loss of a roller. The boat itself may not be balanced which could be causing the issue. It is also possible that the trailer itself, not just the rollers, needs to be checked and repaired...

  • Can a Wobble Roller Retainer be Replaced with a Cotter Pin
Essentially the Wobble Roller Retainer pin part # CE10981 is a cotter pin. I would recommend using this though as it was designed to fit under a wobble roller. A cotter pin might interfere depending on it's size.

  • Washer and Pin to Use with the CE Smith Wobble Roller YR440R
For washers to go with the part # YR440R we have the part # CE10983. Wobble rollers are held on with retainer rings like the CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring # CE10981. This gets clamped so that the holes on your shaft get pinned by the ring.

  • Recommendation For Retainer Ring to Hold Wobble Roller to 3/4-Inch Shaft
The CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring, part # CE10981, can be used for 1-1/8 inch shaft size and 3/4-inch shaft size. You will need to choose the correct size washer along with the retainer ring for installation on your 3/4 -inch shaft. The washer you will need is the CE Smith Wobble Roller Washer for 3/4-Inch Shaft, part # CE10983. You will slide the wobble roller onto the shaft then use the correct size washer for the size shaft you have. Then, you will put the retainer ring around...

  • Removing a Retaining Ring from a Wobble Roller
Probably the easiest way to remove a retainer ring, such as # CE10981, to replace a wobble roller is to grip one end with some vise grips and the other end with some pliers. Then twist in opposite directions to make the opening wide enough for it to slip off. If you have a rotary tool with a cutting attachment it would make short work of it.

  • How to Determine the Correct Yates 500 Roller to Replace a Missing One on a Boat Trailer
There are different Yates 500 rollers available and they typically have different attachment hole diameters. Looking at the pictures you sent in, it looks like you have a cap that feeds through the front of the roller and attaches using a Wobble Roller Retainer Ring # CE10981 to hold that cap onto the shaft. You just need to remove the retainer pin to pull of the cap to the roller and measure the diameter of the hole. Then you just need to get a roller with the same size hole. For example...

  • How to Install the CE Smith Wobble Roller Retainer Ring # CE10981

  • Removing Retainer Ring When Replacing Wobble Roller On Boat Trailer
Taking the retainer ring like part # CE10981 out when removing a wobble roller can be tricky, particularly when they tend to break. You can grab both sides at one time and hopefully not have one end slip inside the roller shaft if it should break.
