How It Works

Paired with your AC unit (sold separately), this electric heat strip keeps your RV warm on a cold or frosty morning. It is operated with the control dial on the air distribution box (sold separately). After you turn the dial to the heat setting, the compressor will shut off, and the fan will blow air over the heater and into your RV. When the optimal temperature has been reached, turn the dial to a fan or cooling setting. Please also note that the heat strip only has one temperature setting and cannot be controlled by the thermostat.

Simple Installation

Advent Air Electric Heat Strip

To install, mount the heat strip to the evaporator inside the AC unit with the included mounting screws. The heat strip has easy, plug-and-play installation with the supplied 30" power cord.

Was hoping this would produce at least a bit of heat. Installed and then tested it while temp outside was 30F. First it drew more than 15amps, had to start the generator in order to produce enough amps to keep it running. After 20 minutes no real heat, so kinda sad. However customer service here is great.
Wish it was better, but hay not always what you expect, but I tried.

Still working fine, not as much heat as I was hoping however it helps in not having to use propane as much.

Very fast delivery time. Excellent packaging to help prevent damage during shipment. Haven't installed parts yet but everything looks good.

I received the heater unit & promptly installed it. Being a competent mechanical type, I found the installation to be straightforward but a bit painful. On the left side (w/elect terminals) was a slot in the protective metal screening for the purpose of using a screwdriver to install the 2 short screws. Difficulty came when trying to weave the screwdriver through terminal ends and wires while trying to guide the screw into the bracket slots.
On the opposite end, there were no electrical terminals, but neither was there a slot in the screening. This required a small diameter Phillips screwdriver to get through the metal screening. In my case it took way longer than one would anticipate to install 4 small screws. It was all good in the end & I am pleased with the product, how it is integrated into the a/c unit and how it functions.
It may be worth mentioning in the video & written instruction, that the HEAT position on the air distribution box also provides power to the fan for heat circulation. I did not see or hear that mentioned anywhere and caused me to question it. By trial, I discovered it's functionality.

Can this be installed as a standalone unit?

I do have an option for you but the heat strip cannot be used as a standalone heater for your trailer. It will need to be plugged into an Advent AC unit (ACM135, ACM135B, ACM150, or ACM150B). If you have one of those units the heat strip will allow you to set your air distribution box to only blow warm air. It sounds like you need a standalone trailer heater like part # CAM57341.

Advent ac unit works extremely well. I have two that are installed in vintage camping trailers as replacements for the 1970s OEM units. They installed easily & function flawlessly. I would not hesitate to buy yet another if the occassion arises.

by:

Very easy to install, just plug and play. I wish it were a bit quieter but all on all an improvement over the ac unit it replaced.

by:

fit perfect

by:

Works great in an enclosed area like an RV riser area. Pretty easy to install with only a couple of tools.

by:

Great service

by:

by:

by:

I can't rate this until I receive my air box to check it out.

We had not bought all we needed the first time and the direction and support to fulfill what we needed was wonderful. your personal were a great help and friendly professional. they new what they were doing. Thank You!

by:

Product delivered in a timely manner and as advertised

by:

I installed two of these strips. Installation is incredibly simple. You can get this done in 30 minutes or less with just a screwdriver. The one I installed above the main cabin keeps the RV comfortable. My bedroom area is signicantly smaller and the unit that services it keeps it quite warm. I usually have to cycle the fan and heat option to keep the temperature where I like. The Advent heat strip is a good option. For reference, I am living full time in my RV.

by:

Fairly easy to install and seems to work. Too hot now to tell.

by:

Would not work on this ac unit

by:

Delivered as said

by:

Takes the chill off

by:

Works as it should! Excellent service from E-trailer as always. Thank you!

  • Availability of Advent 13,500 Btu Air Conditioner with Air Distribution Box # ACRG15
There isn't a full Advent Air Kit available that includes the Air Distribution Box # ACRG15 in place of the standard model, however you could piece together your own kit using the individual components. To match the contents of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Kit # ACM135CH you were looking at (except for the Air Distribution Box) you would just need part # ACM135 for the 13,500 Btu AC itself, # ACMHD for the Heat Strip, # ACMSCKIT for the Start Capacitor, and # ACRG15 for the upgraded...

The Advent Air RV AC unit part # ACDOM150 will plug into the same wiring as your Dometic Penguin since this unit was designed for fitting in place of Dometic setups. To add a heat strip you'd just need the part # ACMHD. This is not a heat pump though.

  • Replacement for Carrier 13,500 Btu Air Conditioner & Heat Without Thermostat
Since you don't have a thermostat, you'll need to replace your entire AC unit, and for a 13,500 Btu unit that has everything you need, there is one from Advent: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Wall Thermostat - 13,500 Btu # ADV44FR The Advent # ADV44FR is compatible with ducted and non-ducted systems so it will work for you, and you can actually choose to add the heat or forgo it with a heat strip, the Electric Heat Strip for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners # ACMHD.

  • Replacement AC Unit for Dometic Duo Therm 15k BTU with Heat Strip
We have AC replacement solutions that will work great in place of your Dometic Duo Therm 15k BTU unit with a heat pump but we don't carry the Dometic brand so we can't get their replacement parts. The Advent Air Unit part # ACM150 was designed to fit in place of a Dometic unit while also being a 15k unit so it would be a great option. It can have a heat strip added to it as well like the # ACMHD. This will plug right into the same connectors as your Dometic for an easy install.

The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box and Wall Thermostat - 15,000 Btu - White # ADV64FR has a starting wattage of 2,800 watts. Advent Air was unable to give me a running wattage but it's typically half of the starting wattage so you'd be looking at roughly 1,400 watts. As for the Heat Strip Electric # ACMHD, he didn't have a definitive answer but stated it was roughly 6-12 watts.

  • Is There A Heat Strip Available For An Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System
Yes, you're looking for the Advent Air Heat Strip # ACMHD to go along with your # ACM150. This system requires a 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide roof opening, which is pretty typical for all RV air conditioner systems. I highly recommend getting the start capacitor # ACMSCKIT as well to cut down on the power surge every time your unit starts up.

For replacing the Dometic Duo Therm that you have now you would want the Advent Air part # ACDOM135B which is also a 13.5k BTU unit.
