Speaker 1: Today we'll be taking a look at the Curt Channel Mount Lock Set, part number C23556.Without any locks, this could be you.But with our locks installed, you're safe and secure. This locking system is designed to work specifically with your Curt Adjustable Ball Mount, part number C45900, and C45902. Both locks feature a barbell style clamping mechanism that will work with either the hitch pin or the ball mount pin. Four keys are included, and any key will work with any of the matching locks. There's a dust cover on the end of each lock to keep out dirt and grime. The curved handle on the hitch pin makes for easy removal and installation. They feature a 6-1/4" overall total length.Included in the kit you'll get one hitch pin, one ball pin, and two locks.

These locks are keyed the same, so you have a total of four keys.We will start by installing the hitch pin. Remove the old one, slide in the new one, unlock your lock, slide it on, lock it up, and close the dust cover. Next, we'll install the ball pin. Remove the old pin, slide in the new locking pin. Again, unlock the lock, slide it on, lock it up, close the dust cover, and you're good to go.

Either pin can be replaced with the locking pin to secure your ball mount. Now, with our locks installed, we can feel safe knowing that our ball and our adjustable mount aren't going anywhere. That completes our look at the Curt Channel Mount Lock Set, part number C23556.

As others have stated, these are good locks but it does appear to have a weakness of being able to pop the lock off with a pry bar.

I have used these items quite a bit over the last year and I am pleased with them. The only concern I have is that they dont seem to be a very strong locking mechanism. I feel like it wouldnt take much to pry off the lock. But so far no one has stolen my drawbar.

by:

The locks are big enough to fit both my hitch and ball hitch. 4 keys included makes it very convenient. Shipped very quickly.

The Locks are working great. Very happy with the product.

by:

This locking pin is definitely long enough for the Curt 14,000 lb adjustable ball mount. In fact, its probably about a half an inch too long. The locking part flops around a bit, I wonder if it would come off with a good smack from a hammer. I'm going to try shoring it up with a few 5/8 inch washers.

by:

Though the product looks to be of good quality, the design in my opinion is poor. When the locking portion is attached to the pin(s), there is a gap between the two. This gives a purchase point to a would-be thief to get a prying tool in there. This may seem nit-picky, but this is a security lock set that is supposed to protect a trailer and hitch ball assembly.

by:

Everything fits well and holds tight, order came super quick and the staff here at E trailer are very kind and respectful, showed up 3 days early to the middle of no where Texas, thanks again yall

by:

Seems to be sturdy enough to keep my new Curt 45900 adjustable trailer hitch secure to my vehicle. I like the fact that the keys are all the same. etrailer customer service is great! Thanks to Michelle!

Health issues have prevented me from using it. Hoping 2023 is a better year.

by:

Matched the description. Easy to use!

by:

Bought in fall of 2018. Kept them lubed up and they worked flawless, until the day I left it on my back bumper after taking off the hitch and driving away. But in the two years I did have them. Flawless! I would have gotten them again, but by time I realized what I had did, I needed something now. FYI: Cheap ones don't last as long.

by:

We carry several different trailers for our adapted sport programs, which meant we needed to get a hitch receiver with an adjustable height. This lock worked perfectly for our situation and would buy it again for our next truck.

Great lock and we have had no issues

by:

These locks are great, I ordered more for my adjustable hitch, I've had one for about three years or more. They work great, ( I do put a little oil on them from time to time just to make sure)

These types of locks normally dont work. The Curt locks work and still work even now after a year I have not sprayed oil on them, there is no need, they are still in great shape! I highly recommend these locks

by:

I'm thinking I probably just got a bad set of these but I have struggled with the locks ever since they were new. The keys don't want to work! Always have to fiddle and jiggle with the locks for an annoyingly long time to get them to work.

Perhaps some lubrication is needed for a smooth entry. Next time, if you want to try a barrel key like item # BD580400, they are easier to maneuver in my opinion.

by:

I chose these items because they were suggested when I purchased a heavy duty ball hitch. They did not fit the hitch very well and I ended up purchasing a different locking pin for the hitch. The product is a great product and I will keep them for other applications, however, I believe a recommended item should complement the product being purchased not simply related.

by:

What can I say about the locking pins? They fit. Hopefully the locks won't have to prove themselves, but there isn't a lot more to say about them unless someone tries to steal the ball or mount. Then we'll know how good they are at preventing theft.

by:

Locks look pretty good. Little long for me, made spacers so you can't stick prybar
between lock and hitch and pop off. Easy to lock and unlock. Now I can relax when hitch is on truck and not hooked to trailer.

by:

Exactly what I wanted. Heavy duty and fit perfectly. I installed this by myself in about 2 hours . Hitch, wiring harness and bracket.

by:

Good product, fit the 3" hitch on my '15 Chevy2500 with a little room to spare. I'd like to see another 1/4" for the hitch lock, but it did the job well.

by:

I like the fact that you don't have to use key to lock, push-on to lock

by:

I ordered these locking pins for my new ball mount trailer hitch so it wouldn't come up stolen some time. I liked the Master Lock pins better but couldn't get two keyed alike.

by:

Really an amazing outfit. The web page provides all the detail needed to make the right choice on parts so its right the first time. The staff are friendly and caring and the delivery was spot on. etrailer is how web shopping ought to be done. They truly set the standard.

by:

Keeps the Curt Adjustable 2-Ball Mount from disappearing...:)

by:

I read a review buy someone on the site to use these pins with the Curt hitch that I also purchased. Only one of them fit so that part isn't great, but the one that does fit still secures the hitch so that it can't be easily stolen/tampered with.

by:

Really great lock set. I wish that the second lock had a chamfered end on it so you could push it back on without the key in the lock.

by:

I ordered a hitch and locking pins. All were nicely packaged and delivered very quickly.

by:

This is my second set that I have bought my son took over my first set. They are a great asset to my channel hitch. Both locks are keyed alike less keys to carry a round. And like always etrailer comes through with fast shipping and great prices. Thanks again

by:

These have functioned well. Unfortunately because I have a short driveway the ballmount has to come off when I get home, so a lot of on and off for these, but no issues.

  • Locks For Curt Channel Style Ball Mount C45900
We do have a lock, though the one you mentioned isn't long enough to work with the Curt Channel Style Ball Mount # C45900. What you will need instead is a lock set that is designed specifically for use with this ball mount, and includes both a hitch lock and a lock that secures the hitch balls to the channel; the correct part for this is the following: - Curt Lock Set for Adjustable Channel-Style Mounts # C23556 I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2017 Honda CR-V
We do have a trailer hitch receiver for your 2017 Honda CR-V. I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III -2 inch # 76128. This hitch has the e-coat base and powder coat finish for excellent rust protection. If you will be towing with this trailer hitch receiver, you'll need a few other items, beginning with a trailer wiring harness, part # 118741. For a ball mount, I recommend the # 2753 ball mount and # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch or # 63845 for a 2 inch trailer...

To install the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13316, on your 2017 BMW X3 there is underbody trimming required, but not fascia. There won't be anything trimmed that will be visible from the back of your vehicle. Installation does require temporary removal of bumper during installation, but there is no drilling required. I've attached a video of the installation on an older model X3 for you. The installation hasn't changed, nor has the hitch receiver for your 2017 model with M Sport package....

I grew up on a farm, I totally get your dilemma. You need a set of stainless steel locking hitch pins. This heavy-duty locking pin set has a 42,000 lbs shear strength and can be controlled by a single key. That being said, when you look at the pictures it's clearly about a 1/2" - 1" wider than the 2" shank it's attached to so you'd want to go with a hitch pin lock like the Curt Lock Set for Adjustable Channel-Style Mounts # C23556, which has 5/8" diameter pins with a 3-1/4" or 4-1/4" span. I do have an option for you but there are no replacement keys available for the Curt Lock Set for Adjustable Channel-Style Mounts part # C23556.
