Did not last very long and will stop flowing gas sometimes... the empty tank indicator will not show when it switches to other tank. Has been in use for about a year.

by:

I have two 100lb tanks with the auto changeover. The auto changeover works but the indicator shows green so you have to guess which tank is in use. The connection is pretty straight forward, so I don't see how it could be an install error.

I wanted to reach out to you in regards to your review on the auto changeover regulator. I reached out and spoke with MB Sturgis today. The tank that is in use will be the one the dial is pointing to - the indicator should be turning from green to red slowly. Is it not turning red at all for you?

William

@JennyN Hi Jenny Thanks for getting back to me. It will auto switch to full tank when the tank in use goes empty but the indicator never turns red.

@William I understand now, in this case I am sending you the warranty return email if you want to have it replaced. Thank you for working with me.

by:

After one year the warranty expires and it quit working even a month before

by:

Working great, the indicator on the the top is easy to read with no confusion about the propane.

by:

This regulator is awesome! Easy to see green indicator that lets you know if there is propane in the tank and automatically changes to the other tank when empty.

by:

Looks and feels like a well built regulator. Install was straight forward, and everything threaded together and tightened down with ease the first time with no leaks!

by:

Received it on time, part was exactly as ad described, removed old regulator installed my old pig tails (simple) discarded provided “L’ bracket, drilled new hole pattern in my old ‘C’ bracket, mounted it with new screw’s provided with new regulator. Mounted the new setup on my T trailer turned gas on tested my appliances! All worked perfectly! A couple of hours, done.

by:

This unit works well for what I used it for.

by:

This unit replaced a 4 y/o Cavagna regulator. The Cavagna simply didn't regulate. The more things I turned on, the lower the pressure (as evidenced by manometer). With the furnace and one stove burner on, pressure went to 10.5".
With the American made Sturgis, pressure never changes no matter how many appliances are being used.

by:

Worked perfectly for starting a 20kw Generac off a 5 gal propane tank to check voltage output…

by:

I purchased this regulator in the fall of 2020. I installed it after I received it but did not use it until spring of 2021. The first time I used it the change over indicator did not turn red until both tanks were depleted. In addition the regulator would constantly whistle/hum during use. At the end of this season it would only deliver from one input. So apparently there was no quality control testing of this regulator after production. I would not recommend this regulator to anyone.

I contacted the manufacturer and they are stumped on the humming as this has not been a complaint before. At times, regulators can hum depending on the strength of the backcheck in the pigtail but it should not be a problem in your case, since you are using their brand of pigtail. Only one side delivering is strange because these are not made to shut one side down. The design always keeps both sides open, besides the internal valve lever that you can switch to one side or the other. The indicator not turning red until both tanks are depleted is an internal cam not moving properly. Unfortunately, these do not have a warranty.

by:

There was an issue with USPS and the staff at etrailer communicated with me every step of the way.

by:

This regulator is a very good replacement for the factory installed regulator.

by:

Purchased the MB Sturgis Regulator and Hoses to replace a competitors auto changeover regulator that was leaking around a seal. I prefer to buy products assembled by America worker's, so the MB Sturgis products fit the bill.

E-Trailer had all the items I wanted, at an affordable price (better than that other retailer who's name begins with "A") my order qualified for free shipping and was delivered in a timely manner.

This is my first purchase from E-Trailer, but it certainly won't be my last.

Thanks E-Trailer!

by:

Please reference my previous review in that I gave a low rating due to the mounting screws not being included. I used my own screws and punctured the housing which caused a leak. I should have had a little patience and contact etrailer to send me the screws but I chose to go ahead with what turned out to be a problem. I accepted this as my fault. However, etrailer took notice of the comment, initiated contact and sent me an authorization to return the regulator that I damaged. This is a great example of customer service! If you want the best in service and the knowledge that problems will be resolved, make etrailer your default vendor. It is not always about price!

Was looking for a a complete setup for an overhead garage heater with a 50,000 btu demand. I was unsure of some issues especially with which regulator should be used. Crystal with customer service was very helpful and answered all of my numerous questions, and was very knowledgeable in all the products that etrailer sells to their customers. Shipping was very fast to my state of Pennsylvania, and I would highly recommend this company to others and will order from again. As a final note, this was the second company I called. I was going to order from a company in a bordering state that was only (80) miles from my house. In talking with them, I found out they could not answer the questions I had about their products. I declined to order from them, and ordered thru etrailer. I am sure glad I did.

by:

I never buy anything without doing thorough research. This Made in America regulator comes from a quality manufacturer. I bought it along with pigtail hoses and feed line hose from the same manufacturer. When I decided on these components I shopped around and found that etrailer had the best price and shipped them to me quickly. I am very happy with the products and service I got from etrailer.

by:

The propane regulator arrived on time and without blemish. I installed it suing the enclosed bracket. I would have liked the bracket more if it was U shaped vs L shaped for my application on a threaded rod. I like the way the indicator is visible 360 degrees since it is located behind the electric motor of the tongue lift. Within seconds of connecting it to a full tank of propane, the indicator went green. I look forward to seeing how it performs during switch-over. We use a 30# cylinder about every 6-8 days depending on temps. Providing hex head self tap screws vs Philips head screws would improve the product. Customer service for ordering was excellent.

by:

Great online ordering experience, product arrived quickly and correctly. I'm in the process of installing it now, but having to make an additional bracket since it's replacing a very old unit and the mounting is completely different.

by:

Great Product/ Looks well built and easy to use. Looking forward to installing on my RV to upgrade from the old non-selectable regulator. Also worked with E-trailer on shipment question and was very happy with the customer service.

by:

I'll tell you in a few years.

by:

Great service and on time

Thanks

by:

This regulator works perfectly. It turned from red to green when I turned on the propane. Since my tanks are full right now I can’t comment on the automatic changeover. But right now, I’m extremely satisfied.

by:

Works great! Perfect replacement for my aging regulator.

by:

Shipped and delivered quickly. Was exactly as described. Will definitely do business with etrailer again.

  • Determining Correct Automatic Change Over Propane Regulator For Generator
You are on the right track, but you will need to replace your current regulator hose as all of the automatic change over units are regulators, and you cannot have two regulators. To determine the correct replacement regulator for your generator you will need to know the BTU per hour requirement of the generator. You should be able to find this information in the owner's manual for your generator or by contacting the generator manufacturer. Once you know the correct BTU per hour rating...

Regulating propane twice to LP is probably what your problems are coming from. I would go down to a single regulator with the dual stage you have now assuming it works properly or to the # 888001-MBS which is a dual stage for vertical applications. The pressure rating is 11 inch of water column.

  • Replacement Regulator for 2020 Jayco with 1 or 2 tanks
If your Jayco has two tanks, as many do, then I would choose the MB Sturgis # 888001-MBS two stage regulator. I like that it has a mounting flange that attaches to the propane dual-bottle frame. If your Jayco has only one tank then the MB Sturgis # 108220 will work for you as long as you can use the 1/4" female NPT inlet and 3/8" female NPT outlet which is pretty standard.
