Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Works great. The installation was easy, the instructions were excellent and easy to follow.

2009 Jeep Patriot

Great product, the connectors make it easy to set up your trailer lighting configuration. The video is helpful as well. I will say this, though - avoid the part about running the wire all the way to your battery if at all possible. This is totally unnecessary (and a lot more work) if you have a lead wire available inside the rear of your left taillight like I discovered through other sources of information in my install process. Just connected the black wire provided (without the extension cord) to this lead wire behind the taillight and I was good to go. Saved me a lot of hassle trying to string a wire throughout my entire vehicle and into the area under the hood.

by:

Easily installed. Actually my wife and her friend installed the hitch and wiring. I installed the adapter wiring and attached to the hitch. Seems like a great product.

Wow, starting with my order on Tuesday I had excellent customer service, then a short 2 days (really?) later I recieved my Rola cargo carrier and light kit. Your videos make it easy to assemble and install. Prices are cheaper than anywhere on the net. Attached are some pics but it is snowing buckets in South Dakota right now, glad when we get to sunny Orlando, thanks etrailer!!!

Around a year ago my grandson and I installed this wiring harness on his Jeep Cherokee. It was pretty easy to install, and is still working great. I would recommend this product.

Just got done installing my hitch and wiring very easy looks great I sent along a picture to show how nice it looks!

2014 Jeep Patriot

Just finished the install of this unit on my 2014 patriot and it couldn’t have been easier. I’ve used other models in the past on another patriot that involved wire splices and poor instructions and installation took forever. Not the case this time. The installation video specific to my vehicle provided on etrailer’s website was dead on and incredibly helpful. Overall great experience both with the product and company.

2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Waited almost a month..harness is good

by:
2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Exactly what I needed. The longest part of the install was running the wire to the battery. I ran it with the brake lines and zip tied it to them with the supplied zip ties.

by:

There probably isn't anything wrong with the harness, but couldn't install it because it wasn't the right model.

etrailer recommended this harness for me 2012 Town & Country, but when I got around to installing it, I found that it was for a 2010 model and wouldn't work on my 2012 model. I was passed the 60 days to return, they refused to let me exchange it for the proper one. I felt that since it was the harness they recommended that they should make it right, but etrailer chose not to do the right thing. So I sit with a harness that is useless to me. I wouldn't buy anything from etrailer ever again....I don't trust them anymore!!

Awesome wireing kit ,easy to install

by:
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan

I installed this on a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Product was easy to install. I followed the directions that came with the kit and watched the install video. I ran the power wire to the battery under the van along the brake line and used zip ties to hold it in place. I traded the van in since then, but it worked up until the day I traded it in. We bought a 2016 this past February and I order the same kit (updated for 2016 as it is not the same as the old kit. Different connectors to the tail lights.), but this time routed the battery wire inside the van through the space for the jack and ran it under the carpet and out of the firewall through the same place the cable for the brake pedal comes in. way easier than crawling under the van.

One year later and it still works like a champ. Next time I need a harness I will be buying my 3rd one from etrailer.

by:
2018 Dodge Grand Caravan

Works great, install was clearly defined, hardest part was weaving the feed line up to the engine compartment and keeping it away from the exhaust, a little tough doing it with jack stands on an inclined driveway.

by:
2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Very pleased with this product! Received it in just a few days, good directions and easy to install. I could have installed it in about an hour and a half but it took me three hours. That's because I ran the green wire to the right side of the car on the inside of the car on the inside of the car under the carpet and trim and the the same with the power wire to the battery and out through the firewall rather than under the car as suggested for better protection, so it took longer.i did run the trailer plug under the car as suggested but I put it in wire loom to protect the wire from chafing and the elements. It took longer to install that way but should provide many years of service especially here in New England with all the salt and snow that deteriate wires in a short amount of time. Thank you E-Trailer!!

Brian L.

8/22/2018

This product is still working great for me, have had absolutely no problems, I believe largely due to the fact that I took the extra time to install the wires on the inside of the car as well as using wire loom to help protect it from the elements. Would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you etrailer from a satisfied customer!

by:

I remember what was involved in this job before these harnesses. This is a wonderful solution. Very easy to follow instructions make for an easy professional installation. A little patience when running the power wire goes a long way. The factory connections ensure reliable, maintenance free operation. I like the loop on the flat 4 connector that secures to the safety chain loop to secure the connector when not in/not in use. The only shortfall is that there aren't enough zip ties included to properly secure the power wire when routing it to the battery. I would recommend this product if you want a one-and-done trailer lighting solution.

After using these harnesses on two vehicles for over a year on one, and two years on the other, both in a northern climate Ive experienced no issues what-so-ever. Im very satisfied.

by:

The harness I bought was incredibly easy to install. I’m not using it until 3/28 (today is 3/16) so I can’t speak to how it works yet. I may stop by the rental trailer place just to check it out. There were two small issues. The directions called for a wire to be ran from the battery to a red wire on the black box. It’s a black wire on the box. There is no red wire. The other issue was the zip ties could’ve been 3” longer. I had to use 2 together because the only thing to tie to was my hitch. I called etrailer about the wire issue and the lady was very friendly and helpful. I’d definitely buy it again.

by:
2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

The install of this wiring harness was very easy. It came with all necessary parts, well except terminal crimpers and wire strippers, but I had those already. I ended up running the power wire from the battery along the brake lines to the rear of the van.

I was a little surprised that the wiring module is mounted on the exterior underneath the vehicle, but given Chrysler's design, I don't really see a better option. So far it has given me no problems. It's nice to have a second tow vehicle.

Brian C.

6/27/2017

The harness still works great, no issues so far.

by:

lights are still working well, i remember the directions being a little fuzzy on which side is which and i ended up putting them on wrong sides, BUT i cut the end off and wired it into a six round with a four/five flat plug, so all i had to do was reverse when i spliced and it turned out fine! Less satisfied with the mounting bracket provided with my six round four/five flat plug, cheap and easily bent. Also the four flat corroded nice and fast with the salt up here in northern WI (even with the cover) as well as the springs for the cover for the six round.

Dan A.

6/20/2020

with application of wd 40 the corrosion has been held in check and the lights are all still working, the mounting bracket has held up, too

by:
2015 Jeep Patriot

My order was received promptly and complete, as always from etrailer!

Your installation videos are always helpful and accurate.

The one suggestion I have concerning this product is that the battery lead coming out of controller should be longer. The controller is generally installed before the lead is crimped to the battery connection. Once the controller is installed, it is challenging to reach the lead to attach the battery power wire because of very limited working space. Just a thought.

Installed as instructed and tests as desired.

Gary

Installed easily, as outlined in your excellent video.

2017 Jeep Patriot

Overall a very nice product that does what it says. Just a couple of notes for someone who might have a problem removing the button fasteners on the Jeep Patriot. I found that the buttons do not come out as easily as one would like, here's what to do. Just pry the button out slightly 1/8 in if possible ans squirt some silicon lube behind the button, wait a couple of seconds and now remove the button.
Also the a few of the zip ties could have been a lot longer, so I could have gotten them around the factory tow bar running under the tail light area. Had to double up on the zip ties.
Still gave the product 5 stars. Corrected my lighting problem while towing my camper.
Thank you etrailer and Tekonsha.

2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

As always, the customer service at etrailer was excellent. Time will tell how well the Tekonsha holds up. I installed the Curt version of this approximately 4-5 years ago and the power module on the Curt harness failed after 3 years of light use. Install was much easier the second time and only took about 45 minutes.

I just towed this past month with my van and the Tekonsha wiring harness. All lights worked! The harness is still in good shape and hopefully will continue to function perfectly.

To install a 4-way on your 2014 Jeep Patriot requires the Tekonsha trailer wiring harness part # 118552 that you mentioned.
