Troubleshooting Low Propane Pressure  

Question:

Hello, My gas appliance, water heater shows an error that its not getting enough pressure and wont fire up. Gas pressure meter says 5 WC. In use are: 1 MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator. 2 20 LB propane tank. 3 Reducer at regulator outlet for smaller hose 3/8inch reduced to 1/4. How can I get more pressure? Thanks for your help. ML

The MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator Item # 888001-MBS should be maintaining 9" WC or above so you may have a defective regulator and need to replace it. Your regulator should have a an adjustment screw underneath the regulator cap that you can turn to raise or lower the pressure. Typically turning the screw clockwise will raise the pressure but your regulator should have an indicator on stating which way to turn the screw.
