Troubleshooting Propane Leaking Out of Disconnected Hose on the Other Side of a Propane Regulator
Question:
Had one tank hooked up so one side no tank well last night got cold turned on the gas from the panel then turned on the furnace. Worked fine but after about 20min we smelled propane real bad. I went and opened the compartment and propane was leaking from the line with no tank but the switch is on the conected side. ??

From what you are describing it sounds like you have a change over regulator that has gone bad. There shouldn't be a way for the propane to go through the regulator and out of the disconnected hose unless the regulator has a fault. I would recommend replacing your regulator with one like the MB Sturgis High Capacity Two-Stage Auto Changeover Regulator # 888001-MBS.
