Rob: Hey everybody. Rob here etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Laclede three eighth inch Quick Link. There's a lot of different uses you can use these quick links for. In fact, I like to keep about a handful of these in my toolbox, because I do use these quite a bit. They're just really nice because then you can connect a lot of different things together without using any tools. We'll just unthread this section here.
It will give us the opening we need. We can hook up just about anything that's going to fit inside of here. In our case, we're going to use it to attach our safety chains to our trailer here. So I'm going to take my link, make sure it fits through the hole. It does.
Find the open end of my chain, slide my chain through. Then it's just a matter of tightening it back up.Then we just hook our chain up for a truck. Not going to have to worry about welding the chain on or potentially drilling a hole and putting a washer and bolt through. It just makes it a lot easier to hook your chains up and not have to use any kind of tools. Now, another thing you can use it for is actually the opposite end of your safety chain.
We can slide our Quick Link through our chain to chain loop and then slide our chain around and tighten it up. So if you actually need to hook your chain up to both your truck and your trailer, you can use one on each end.And some of our customers are actually even leaving the Quick Link on their vehicle because some of the flanges or the piece here is a little thick for some of those hooks to get on. So you can attach a quick link and you can actually just leave it there, and it makes it a lot easier to hook up your safety chains to because there's going to be a little bit wider of an opening. You're not going to have to fight it.You can even take two chains and extend them out, making it even longer. That way, if you have a broken link or you really just need to make your safety chains a little bit longer you can use one of these links and use as much chain as you need to.Another great thing that you can use it for is if you have a whole wide enough, you can hook it to the end of your trailer and you just created a really solid tie down point for yourself.
Now, a few measurements that are definitely going to help you out when you're looking at these Quick Links is going to be the size of the Quick Link. The diameter is going to be three eighths of an inch and the opening right here is going to be just under a half an inch. Now, the depth from the inside of the nut to the inside of this wall here is going to be just under three quarters of an inch, so you want to double check your application and make sure this is going to fit.You also want to make sure that you're not going to be over exceeding the limit of these Quick Links and they have a 2,200 pound working limit. So you want to double check your trailer and all the other components, and make sure they're not going to exceed that. I bought safety cables for my trailer to use as extension cables as I am planning on using a Hitch extender to keep my trailer further away from my car as it currently tends to "jackknife" into the car!

Unfortunately these are much larger then I thought they were (my fault for not checking dimensions/measurements), but they are very well made. I believe if I bend the links I'm trying to connect a bit I can get them in this thing. Purchased this to fix safety chains on a trailer.. link broke.
I use it as a connector near my trailer hitch. Works as designed.
This is a quality quick link. The WLL is also stamped right on it so there is no question of its load rating (2200 lbs). Wish it was made in the USA rather than China, but it will still get the job done.
