How is the Reese Titan Hitch Box Extension Supported and Does it Require Stabilization Chains
Question:
When the hitch extension is used , is there some sort of bracket that is required on my 1150 camper to keep it from swaying around or does it just get suported by the hitch on the truck. will I need any other items to attach this extension, chains etc.. My truck is a 2011 ford F-350 8foot bed and a 1150 eagle cap camper. Thanks

The trailer hitch on the truck is what supports the extension. The extension is designed to fit in a 2-1/2 inch receiver (measuring on the inside) and the receiver part of the extension has a 2 inch receiver opening. The only thing you need for the extension is a properly sized hitch pin like # 37201065.
For lateral, back and forth movement of the extension, it is normal to see some play. Reese does not make any lateral stabilization chains for the Titan extensions.
You will need to attach chains from the trailer to the chain loops on the extension and then on to the trailer hitch on your 2011 Ford F-350. The two eyes on the top of the extension are for safety chains. DOT regulations require that you extend the safety chains on your trailer so that it is attached directly to the vehicle, these loops should be utilized to keep the new longer safety chains from dragging the ground.
Many people elect to add an extension to their existing safety chains, so that they can remove the extension for towing the trailer when the extension is not used. For this application, I would recommend using two quick links, # C82932 or # 6590-044-04, and two of the 35 inch Long Safety Chains, # 1483-535-04.
You may be able to use a shorter extension depending on the distance between the the center of the hitch pin hole on the vehicle and the distance required to clear the camper. For a shorter 2-1/2 inch extension we have # RP45292. I the truck does not have a 2-1/2 inch receiver, we have other extensions that may work for you.
