Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2016 Dodge Charger

Draw Tite 1-1/4 Class 2 Hitch in stalled on a 2016 Dodge Charger SRT 392. Well made hitch. Easy to follow video online. Took about an hour. The SRT has 2 exhaust temp sensors that you need to unplug, and that was the only difference in the install video. The kit came with very useful pre threaded pieces of mechanics wire. These made installing the bolts very easy. The hitch sits up tight against the bottom of the rear valence so it adds the minimal to the clearance. I bought this to attach my bike racks to and the drawtite was the only one that said it did not need stabilizing straps to use a bike carrier. I was worried about it dragging. My front drags lightly on my driveway. My hitch did not. I am using a 1 Up USA carrier but any 1-1/4 mount will work. The SRT 392 is lower than standard chargers so really steep driveways may scrape. I am pleased with the product, price, instalation. Thank you E-Trailer.

Still great after a year. I even use a small 3.5 x 5 trailer with this hitch. I dont get any drag.

2018 Dodge Charger

Bought the hitch strictly for a bike rack and it works perfectly. Put it on my wife’s 2018 Charger SXT (the V6). It has a 1.5” lowering kit, so I was a little worried about scraping, but so far so good - no issues. The directions to remove the fascia were super misleading. I eventually found a YouTube video that helped immensely. FYI, on the 2018 there are no bolts or clips that need to be removed from the bottom edge, but you do have to pull the tail lights. My exhaust was entirely welded, so I just removed all the hangers and supported it with a tow strap, which provided enough play and space to get the bolts into the frame. Bolted up fairly easily - Solid hitch!

Working great, no issues at all. Even with the lowering kit on the car, we have not scraped the hitch once. Ended up getting a Kuat 2 bike carrier, and have had no issues whatsoever.

Perfect fit. Even though the instructions said that the plastic trim has to be cut and possibly removed, my dealer installed it and it looks factory. Perfect fit. No issues. The wiring kit I did myself, very well written instructions, easy.

2009 Dodge Challenger

Everything lined up and fit perfectly. All hardware included. Looks great on my 2009 Challenger. Had to remove the one muffler to slide it in place but would be the case with any hitch. Nice product.

2005 Chrysler 300

I purchased this on Saturday and it arrived on Wednesday. The video was an awesome help. My 2005 300 was just as shown. Since my car was 7 years old at the time, the only issue I had was with the threaded holes. I did need to run a tap (re-threading) through the holes due to rust. Other than that, it went just as shown. I did this in my garage with a normal 2 ton jack and some stands. It took me about an hour and a half including cleanup. I also purchased the plug in wiring and talk about easy. The only thing I did different than the video was with the ground wire. I attached it to the stud on the body shared by the battery ground wire rather than drill another hole. Great product. I also need to say that everything (except the tap) came included that was needed to install the hitch. It looks great.

2005 Dodge Magnum

Great product. On my previous hitch (also ordered here at etrailer) installed on my wife's car, there has been some paint pealing & surface rust forming. So this time before installing I coated it with plasti-dip and then a coat of spraypaint to harden the plasti-dip to take away the rubbery feel. Have done this to my rims and they have lasted for over 8 years now with no wear. Probably could have used truck bed liner to achieve same effect.

My car is a V6 so I only have to deal with slightly dropping one muffler from it's bracket during installation. Since I was working alone, to better hold the muffler out of the way so I can get my hands up there to thread the bolts thru the frame holes, I used a small cut 2x4 piece of wood to wedge in between the muffler and frame. Also gives more room to use a socket wrench.

BTW - those little wires that thread onto the bolt to fish thru the holes in the frame - Awesome - thank you etrailer! I did not need to cuss during this installation :-)

I pull a 8 ft long trailer with (2) 55 lbs kayaks. we go on very short trips. the " part with the ball" is very loose when you put it in the hitch even after tightening the bolt as tight as possible. I know it needs to be some what loose in order to slide it in the hitch, but when I drive down the road without the trailer, the hitch rattles, with bolt TIGHT. I don't know if adding another bolt would help or not..?? But I really don't like my car to rattle from anything. Thank you.

by:

Installation was simple. A problem accessing the holes under the muffler but was able to do it with a friends extra set of hands.

The instructions could use a slight modification. Step 2 says to "run the M12 bolts into the existing weldnuts to clean dirt or debris from weldnut:" This is great for cars who do not travel on road where they put down salt to melt snow. I ended up breaking the head off the bolt because of the corrosion. It got stuck and wouldn't move. Taking a tap to clean out the threads did the trick on the other existing weldnuts on the car.

Not so much for end users but for the delivery guy and my self to carry home the box was well designed with two handle holes on either side, on opposite ends of the box. Made for really easy handling of such a heavy boxed item. Kudos to the engineer with enough practicality to include this.

The hardest part of installing this trailer hitch was getting the car up on jack stands. The instructions and the video were right on. The hitch kit is the highest quality. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

Everything got here quickly. I installed the hitch today with not too many problems. I am very happy with the visual aspects of the hitch on My new car. I bought a new drawbar from You that will be perfect height for the small trailer I have. This is not the first hitch I have purchased from Your company and I am very happy with all the products I have purchased from them. You can't go wrong using etrailer. I liked the fact that I could verify fitment before I ordered everything. Thanks etrailer

by:

Easy to install and fit perfectly. Would recommend. Don't need to rent or borrow a truck anymore with my new hitch and little trailer.

by:

The customer service with etrailer is just outstanding! My hitch was shipped just one hour after I placed the order. Also, I accidentally ordered two hitches when I place my order online and two were promptly delivered. I was able to return the unwanted hitch and get a credit in only 1 day! Great product, great customer service and Amanda was amazing to work with on all of my interactions with etrailer.com.

2016 Chrysler 300C

Installation was pretty straight forward. It will behoove you to have a proper exhaust hanger removal tool. Would give it a 5 star but the protective packaging was a bit anemic and my receiver showed up with cosmetic damage. A little touch up paint and it was fine.

  • Availability of a Trailer Hitch to Fit a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat
The Draw-Tite Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 36548, will fit a 2016 Dodge Challenger if your vehicle does not have the quad-tip exhaust. Since your model is the Hellcat, I am assuming that your vehicle will have the quad-tip exhaust. I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C12064. This hitch is designed to fit either exhaust model of the 2016 Dodge Challenger. The Curt hitch uses the 1-1/4 receiver opening and has a max tongue weight rating of 350 lbs. The Curt hitch is required...

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2016 Dodge Charger is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, Class II # 36548. This trailer hitch has a 1-1/4 inch receiver that will work well with your Thule Vertex. The # 36548 hitch has been confirmed to fit all models of the 2016 Charger so it will work well for your Charger R/T Scat Pack. The maximum tongue weight capacity of this hitch is 300 pounds, so your 100 pound bike rack plus bikes will fall well within the hitch's capacity. I really...

  • What is the Difference Between Draw-Tite Hitches 36507 and 36548 for 2014 Dodge Charger?
Great question! The Draw-Tite # 36507 has a visible cross tube and sits a little further out from the frame of the 2014 Dodge Charger than the Draw-Tite # 36548, which is designed to be a concealed cross tube and sits further under the vehicle. The Draw-Tite # 36548 is a great choice if you're looking for a hitch that doesn't stick out too far at the rear of the vehicle. I've attached a picture of the # 36548 installed to show where exactly it sits on the vehicle.

The Draw Tite hitch part # 36548 does fit your 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack but will require some trimming of the lower rear fascia. I wouldn't say it would destroy the valence but it does require trimming which is a very common step for the install of hitches.

  • Least Visible Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Dodge Charger
The least visible hitch we have for your 2016 Dodge Charger Scat Pack is going to be the Draw Tite # 36548 that you referenced. This hitch has a 1-1/4 inch opening which would be smaller than the 2 inch hitches and due to it's safety chain loop design would be less visible than the Draw Tite.
