SeaSucker Vacuum Cup

The Board Rack lets you transport 2 surfboards or stand-up paddleboards on your vehicle's naked roof without the need of a permanent roof rack. Vacuum cups attach in seconds to the roof, trunk, or glass on your car, SUV, van, motorhome, or trailer. Because it doesn't require a permanent installation, this carrier is great for transporting your boards when you're traveling by rental car. And if you're worried that vacuum cups won't stay attached to your vehicle, you can rest assured because each vacuum cup provides 210 lbs of suction, giving you a total of 1,260 lbs of pull strength. Your gear isn't going anywhere! Additionally, the rack stores easily in your trunk or garage when not in use, or in a duffle bag while traveling.

Scratch-Resistant Vacuum Cups

SeaSucker Vacuum Cup

The SeaSucker board carrier is quick and easy to mount. To install the carrier, make sure the mounting surface is clean and place it on your roof, trunk, or window glass then press the pumps several times until the orange bands disappear. Depending on the surface they're mounted to and the load being put on them, suction in the cups will decrease over time. Make sure to check the plungers before you get into your vehicle. When you see the orange indicator bands show simply re-pump the plungers.

SeaSucker T-Shaped Tab

To break the seal on each cup and remove the carrier from your vehicle, simply pull the T-shaped tabs up and towards the center of the cups - it's that easy. Remove the front and rear carriers and store them in your trunk or garage, or put them in a suitcase to take with you.

Soft Foam Pads

SeaSucker rubber pads

The carrier has soft foam pads that protect your boards from scratches and scuffs.

SeaSucker rubber pads

Simply set your boards in place and use the included nylon cam-buckle straps to secure them to the front and rear carriers.

I did a bit of testing to figure out how long it would take for the vacuum to loose pressure. I left the racks installed over night following the installation instructions and when I checked on the sucking cups the next day, there was one that needed to be pumped twice, but outside of that all of them were holding on nice a tight.

After strapping up a 12.6 Slingshot Nitro Standup Paddle board and driving an hour up the road. Everything held up perfectly. I did not exceed 55MPH on my way up just to make sure all was well. On my way back I went up to 65MPH and no issues. I would recommend having a none lint cloth with you to clean the surface and the suction cups prior to re-installing the SeaSucker back onto the car roof.

Overall, very confident in it's ability to hold the board in place and not have extra hardware to install permanently on my Rover!

I absolutely stand by this product. I still use them quite often and are holding up great with no issues at all. I have recommended them to friends and even family members. The ease of use and not having to carry a permanent fixture a top of your vehicles roof is excellent and quiet. Permanent roof racks can cause a lot of wind turbulence diminishing the quietness of your daily commute. I am very happy with them.

I have only used the product twice but it works as advertised. Very easy to install and remove.
Great service from ETRAILER.
I finally have a solid surf rack on my 2014 beetle.

The product still works great.

by:

I am using this rack on the side of my campervan to transport surfboards and it has worked great! I recommend this product.

by:

Great product. I needed something to use to haul my kayak around as my car didn't have another option for a rack. It works great!

by:

Love these things! I can use them on the top of my car and travel trailer without having to install permanent crossbars. I have owned these for 1 year now and they are superb quality! You definitely want to keep the protective suction cup covers on though.. especially if you are storing in the garage.

by:

These work great. My trip to the beach would be around 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes and these things could easily hold my surfboard onto the top of my car. It held tight through rough winds, rain and on extremely sunny days. I would stop multiple times on my trip the first two times to check and see if it was all still suctioned down, and it always was. After that, I never felt the need to stop and check the suction. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to find a way to carry a board out on their car without having to pay a crazy amount for something permanent. I would have to tear everything down while at the beach and put it all back up for my trip back, but it fits easily in my trunk and it's fairly simple and easy to set up. Not too much of a hassle.

by:

We have two sets of racks. The one for the Tesla model 3 is superb and reliable and stays on all the time. The model x has a different roof/door system and although it works well- better than anything else- a shorter cross piece would better fit on one half of the roof and allow at least one falcon door to open.

by:

Great product! Has been reliable holding a surf board and paddleboard on the side of my RV. The suction cups have never come loose even at highway speeds.

by:

On time delivery and as ordered. I will be testing out the product soon.

by:

Very pleasantly surprised. I use this to carry a board on an AMG GTS and it worked great. The cups stuck easily to the glass roof, and it was rock solid at 60 mph. I'm sure it would have been fine at higher speeds but I didn't feel compelled to test it. Installs in minutes and stores easily. The only recommendation I have is if you care much about your car to think about getting straps that have the neoprene padding around the buckles so you don't ding/scratch anything if you accidentally drop one while securing/removing your board.

by:

Product works exactly as advertised. Great solution for cars without roof racks. etrailer fully answered my questions and shipped promptly. Would definitely use etrailer again.

by:

These work great on my 2013 Beetle..
Easy
to put on and remove..I left them on overnight, had to repump 2 of the 6 just a little..
No big deal .. I carried a 10 foot SUP and it was fine . I drove up r to 60mph and had no problems..

Arrived in time. Packaged well. Excited to try!

  • Difference Between SeaSucker Surfboard Carriers 298-BX1806 and 302-SP2106
The biggest difference is that the feed with the vacuum cups of the SeaSucker Paddleboard Carrier # 302-SP2106 are telescoping at 24-44 inches whereas the SeaSucker Surfboard Carrier # 298-BX1806 on the other hand has the bars fixed at 28 inches.

Then I recommend using the Rhino-Rack SUP and Surfboard Pads w/ Tie-Downs for Crossbars - Universal - 33-1/2" Long - Qty 2 # RRRWP05 because it comes with the protection you need for your rails and board. SeaSucker doesn't currently produce a dedicated kayak rack, however, if you have a kayak that is less than 45 pounds, you may be able to use the SeaSucker Surfboard Carrier, part # 298-BX1806 as a viable alternative. The Surfboard/SUP carrier does include the tiedowns for securing the kayak to the racks, but not a bow or stern kit. My friends at SeaSucker confirm that it can absolutely be mounted to the side of your Sprinter van. I have some extra tips when using this carrier. A better option would be a roof rack that you could then mount a board carrier to.
