This locking carrier lets you safely and securely transport 1 kayak or canoe, 2 stand-up paddleboards, or 2-3 surfboards on your vehicle's roof rack. The carrier is easy to load and use with integrated straps and ratcheting hand knobs. Adjustable pads protect your boat or boards during transport. And the carrier installs in your crossbar T-slots with included hardware.
The carrier is easy to use and easy to load. There are 2 long straps that stretch over your cargo and secure to 2 short straps. The straps are tightened in place with ratcheting knobs. When transporting a kayak or canoe, load the boat onto your crossbars first. Then connect the straps over the boat - securing the wire looms on the ends of the short straps to the hooks on the ends of the long straps - and tighten them with the hand knobs.
When transporting surfboards or SUPs, connect the straps first. Slide your board onto your crossbars under the connected straps, then tighten down the straps with the ratcheting knobs.
When it's time to remove your cargo, lift the tension release levers under the covers to loosen the straps and unhook them.
Rubber coating on the straps and adjustable corner pads help to protect your boat and boards from scratches and scuffs during transport. For additional protection, board pads (sold separately) can be added to your crossbars to provide a cushion for your cargo.
You can install the carrier quickly and easily into the T-slots - or channels - in the tops of your crossbars on with the included hardware. To install the carrier, you must first remove your crossbars' endcaps and the rubber strips in the T-slots. Insert square bolts into the T-slots where you want to mount the carrier. Slide the carrier over the bolts and secure it to your crossbars with washers, long nuts, and a hex wrench.
Four locking covers secure your boat or boards to the carrier and the carrier to your crossbars. With the covers locked and closed the ratcheting knobs cannot be turned and the tension-release levers cannot be accessed to loosen the straps. The locked covers also deny access to the mounting hardware so the carrier cannot be removed from your crossbars.

I've used my locking Watersport Carrier numerous times over the past year to carry my two SUP boards. It's been wonderful! The fact that it synches down securly offers an additional level security on long trips, and it's very easy to load on/off. Would definitely recommend!
I can only comment on what my daughter has said, since it was a Christmas gift, and she lives out of state. It works perfectly and has been very durable.
