The brake assemblies were in relatively good condition when received except for the actuator wires into the backer plate. The insulation on these were damaged presumably by a tool when inserted the associated strain relief. I repaired this with some RTV. Also, this was my first e-brake job and I was not impressed with Dexter customer support - non-existent.

Everything working out fine. Just had some brake service done and wear was fine. About 5K miles on the brake job.

by:

Exactly what I was looking for. Made in USA and perfect fitment

by:

I've used these before. A few years ago my electric brakes locked up because the emergency switch plug was slightly pulled out. This summer, I had a flat tire and that must have knocked something loose inside the hub. These are the easiest way to get back on the road.

by:

Good solid brake shoes, fit on perfectly, in fact the first problem free repair job I have tackled in months. The camper is as unusual as the photo is of Alabama weather.

I have only put about 3,000 miles on it since then, if it brakes before I but 25,000 miles on it I would be unhappy with it. For this, a year is simply not enough

E-trailer is a great company to deal with. The electric brake assemblies were exactly the same are the original which insured installation was smooth and easy. Support after the sale is unsurpassed. They follow-up after the sale with instructional video clips to insure there are no "hiccups". After installation of the new brakes, I road tested and calibrated the controller (a device that I previously purchased from E-trailer). E-trailer was referred to me by a friend. I will definitely use them again and will not hesitate to refer them to others. Lastly the assemblies are American made and the shipping was free, could not improve on service, product or value. Thanks

by:

Very nice equipment. Easy to install, great fit, and easy to wire up.

by:

exact replacement made it an easy process. Has worked well.

by:

High quality, perfect for, easy installation. I highly recommend these

by:

Great service. When your salesforce KNOWS product and application both sides WIN.

by:

The construction of the brake assembly makes it simple to install. Also the product info video describes the specifications.

by:

Great selection of parts, fair prices and fast shipping. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

All replacement brake parts I purchased have been performing perfectly. Very satisfied customer!

by:

Good quality product, zero issues after one year. Works as intended.

by:

The New breaks work great! Fairly straightforward install.

by:

Excellent service, fast shipping, good prices and quality products (Dexter).
Really happy with etrailer.

by:

brakes worked fine last summer, complete assemblies were a better deal than just replacing the shoes. my son in law and myself just combined an order this weekend (save shipping cost) on trailer tow mirrors from etrailer for our vehicles.

just came back from OBX 1400 miles-trailer brakes worked perfect.

by:

I removed and reconditioned the axles on my snowmobile trailer. Salt corrosion damaged the brake assemblies. The replacements assemblies from etrailer.com bolted right on and made short work of the brake repair.

Still working just fine.

I bought a new car trailer with brakes on only 1 axle. etrailer had the exact same brakes for me to put on the second axle. These drum brakes were really easy to install, wire and adjust / re-adjust. I'd really recommend brakes on both axles if like me you're towing close to 7000lb. I've made a couple emergency stops around town, and didn't have the feeling i was being pushed by the trailer at all.
I'd also really recommend getting a high tech brake controller if you're buying one. I had a cheap one that really sucked, i had to constantly readjust brake power every time my speed varied (to stop being pushed by the trailer at speed or jerking to a stop at low speed). Annoying and dangerous IMO.

by:

First off, Etrailer is awesome. I ordered two pairs of loaded plates and hubs on Sunday night and they were on my door step by Wednesday!..
Three issues with the plates.
1. On one plate, the two wires from the magnet were about cut in two on the back side of the plate right as they come out of the plastic retainer. Must be getting pinched somehow in shipping.
2. Both left plates had lubriplate grease where the brake pads rub the backing plate and at all pivot points. Neither of the right side ones did, requiring disassembly of the new plates to grease the spots that should have been. (Somebody had a bad day on the assembly line!).
3. Product information led me to believe that new backing plate nuts would be included. They were not, but new lug nuts were included with the wheel bearing kits.

Only thing that I would suggest to Etrailer would be to carry replacement lock tabs for the bearings. Other than that, a couple of hours and brand new brakes & hubs all around. They are working great!
Thanks Etrailer for the great products, prices & shipping!

Steve

Having some mechanical skills, replacing my trailer brakes was an easy job. I also did the wheel bearings and races, which was a new job for me, without any complications. The eTrailer parts, tools and videos made this job go smoothly. Buying the brake assemblies on the backing plate is the way to keep the job easily manageable.

by:

So far so good. I have not used the trailer much since I have installed the new parts. It gets used through the fall and winter for hunting.

So far so good

by:

I received my product in very timely manner but it was damaged and not usualbe due to the wires being crushed and bare wires exposed plus some of the brake componets had dislodged in shippment. etrailer was very quick to remedy the problem by sending another shippment the next day and it arrived in mostly good condition due to some more componets being dislodged again in shipping but I was able to put them back in place and the brake assembly is now in great condition. I also ordered a set of bearing and seals for my application and they arrived in very good condition and now I am ready to reassemble my Travel Trailer and hit the road again. These heavy items (the brake assemblies) do need more vigirous shipping measures to prevent the problems I had with my order. I will gladly use etrailer again and will recomend them to my friends.

by:

Added brakes to my 6X10 Wells Cargo enclosed trailer. They are working great. Easy install. As always, new trailer brakes take some time to wear in before you get full "lock - up" level braking. I'd buy these again. As always, great order and order fulfillment experience with etrailer.

by:

I bought these to add brakes to my utility trailer. erailer customer service was excellent.
They were able to price match a competitors price and the shipping was fast.
The brakes fit well and the install was easy.
Why only 4 stars then? Its a small thing but the brakes came with 4 nuts for the install but did not included the required lock washers. No problem I thought, so off to the local box store to get 7/16 washers. This proved futile, and It took me quite a while to finely locate the correct washers.

  • What Hubs Do I Need for the 2,200 lbs Timbren Axle-less Suspension System?
I would be happy to help you find a set of hubs for your Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System item # ASR1THDS03. We have two options depending on whether or not you need brakes. For just the hub without brakes you will want the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased item # AKIHUB-545-35-K. If you need electric brakes the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 10" - Right Hand item # 23-27 and Left Hand item # 23-26 will be a great choice. If...

  • Replacement 10 Inch 5-on-5 Bolt Pattern Brake Drums for Old Car Trailer
I did a Google search on the information you found on your brake drums and wasn't able to find anything conclusive regarding a replacement. We offer one 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake drum with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, part # 84556UC3 for a standard or # 84556UC3-EZ for an EZ-Lube spindle. If your existing hub uses an #L68149 inner and an # L44649 outer wheel bearing, either of these hubs would be compatible. The hubs include the bearings, races, seal, grease cap, wheel bolts and lug nuts. If you...

  • How to Pick the Correct Brake Assemblies and Bearings for 2006 Forest River Grand Surveyor Trailer

The # 23-26 and # 23-27 has bolts holes that are 2-7/8 inches apart on center. Since you are going to have to remove your hub and bearings anyway I would recommend you just remove them now to verify the bearing numbers that you would need, the numbers of the bearings will be stamped on the bearings. I'm sorry to hear about your recent mishap! I'm not sure which of the two axles and hubs on your trailer are in need of replacement but we have exactly what you need for either! To start, for the axle itself the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam # 7359765 will work perfectly. The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System like the # ASR1200S04 will fit any frame width since it is a universal application. You will need to use two different spindles/hubs/brake assemblies for each set of wheels. Which would make sense since you plan on swapping to a different axle. Since you have a Dexter 3,500 lb axle with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern you'd need the hub/drum part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which matches that perfectly and then the brake assembly set # 23-26 for the left hand side and # 23-27 for the right hand side. There are many ways to find out the axle you have on your trailer. The first way is to check the diameter. Another way to tell is by the bearing size and the seal. Yet another way to narrow it down is by the brake assembly.
