Brake Assembly Kit and Drum Recommendation

Question:

Hello, I plan to order Dexter brake assembly kit Part # K23-027-00 , 9769091913 and , K23-026-00, 8473091913 RH/LH. What is the correct brake drum for them and part numbers please. This is the Dexter Axle info: HF= 69.00 OB=53.00. S/N: 122868144. capacity: 2500 pounds. Are these Dexter parts made in USA? Can I order brake drums without wheel bearings? If I order two pairs of right and left brake assembly kits and drums, do I get a discount? Thanks

So we are sure of fit, let's start with confirming your hub and drums fit your spindles before we look at the brakes. If those don't line up, we can't be sure you need a 10" drum to work with the # 23-26 and # 23-27 brake assemblies. For a 2,500lb axle like yours, we only have idler hubs so we won't have the hubs for you to install brakes but you will need to be sure of sizes before you buy brakes overall.

To determine correct replacement hub size, you have to first determine which bearings are in the old assembly. If you are unable to retrieve the bearing numbers, you can take measurements of the spindle. The measurements need to be as precise as possible so I recommend using a dial or digital caliper like # PTW80157 if you need to measure the spindle. Included is a helpful diagram to show what bearing numbers and spindle dimensions you're looking for. Find the numbers stamped into the bearings and with those we will be able to get you the correct hubs.

Yes, the # 23-027 and # 23-026 are made in the USA. You can order the bearings seperately but the hub and drum kits come with the bearings included. We do not have a discount available for ordering a complete right and left side brake assembly unless we carry them as a kit. It is recommended to change both of the brake assemblies at the same time so that the brakes are both operating the same. If you mix old and new parts the braking may be different from side to side and cause problems.
