Completely satisfied with the purchase. I ordered the hitch on September 24th.
Original delivery date was October 2nd. The next day I received an email telling me it would be delivered on the 28th, then another email saying the 27th. It showed up on the 27th! Awesome hitch, super nice shiny black finish. All the hardware was nicely packed and taped to the hitch. It bolted into place with no hassles whatsoever. Very satisfied customer.

by:

Bolt-on, no-fabrication installation as advertised. Fits perfectly with factory bumper, even with factory ball left in place. All necessary hardware was included and of good quality. Tested to 2T several times over the past year and have had no issues. Surface coating is impressively durable also. Has appropriate tolerance on receiver and convenient sizing/location for safety chain holes. Only downside I can think of is that the info tag is a sticker rather than a stamped plate. Other than that, this is a perfect product.

This hitch was a lot heavier than I thought it would be to start off with.

The package was delivered on time with no damage to it, even for it's weight.

I always like to open everything to make sure everything I ordered was there and it was. Then start opening up the hitch box and makes sure all the parts are there, and they where.

It was a fairly easy install for one person to do. Depending on your bumper set up, and Toyota has a couple different styles, you may have to do some fabrication style work but nothing hard and no real special tools.

I did take some photos of what I had to do to mine. My bumper mounts to the inside of my frame so I did have to notch out a spot in them to clear the stove bolt head. That was no big thing to do.

Other than that this thing fit like a glove and it cleared my exhaust hanger perfectly. The ball came already mounted but after I got my trailer hooked up and though about my load I decided I wanted to flip it over for the 3/4 rise instead, again no big job to change.

Customer service is some of the best, double checking what I was putting it on and finding some other things I needed that I did not see on the website or just wasn't looking in the right spot or just plain over looked it, probably the later.

Thanks again etrailer.com., another very satisfied repeat customer!

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver I ordered arrived quickly and in good shape. The box it was in was pretty much destroyed but nothing was missing, so no complaints. The install went by the numbers and looks great. Really love doing business with etrailer, they are on it! I, also, appreciate their installation videos, they have helped me immensely!

1992 Toyota pickup:
As far as etrailer
goes I was impressed. I ordered on a Wednesday at 4:30 pm. When I got home from work Friday (48 hours later) it was on my front porch. Now that's fast shipping!
The hitch was a good fit for 1992 Toyota pickup. The exhaust hanger was a slight problem as other reviews have mentioned. No drilling was required, I just had to grind the clearance notch for the hanger put in by the manufacturer about 1/2 inch deeper. The notch was there just not deep enough. Other than that it was a perfect fit. Installation took about 2 hours. Looks good with the chrome bumper.
I uploaded a picture of the notch.

I just installed my new Curt hitch. It fits great, and was pretty easy to install. The made-in-USA sticker is exactly what I wanted to see.
Excellent product

1991 Toyota Pickup

Item arrived pretty quickly and in good condition. I installed this on a Toyota Truck with no rear bumper, a body lift and 33" tires. The fit to the frame was perfect with no modifications, but hardware diagram could gave been a little better, I ended up putting 2 of the bolts in the wrong place and had to go back and switch them. Seems to be a good product, just wish it had mounted closer to the bottom of the truck.

by:

I put it together with hand tools and I’m not the quickest at doing stuff so it took me and hour because the instructions were right but I didn’t see the long screws in the bag that go through the frame and I was confused, but once I figured it out it was a breeze. This bumper also fits the Toyota Hilux trucks, this was my main concern seeing as I bought this to go on my Hilux. Nobody i could find knew if it would fit so I took a chance and bought it and it fit like a glove.

by:

Even after a year, the tow package I purchased is still holding strong.

1989 Toyota Pickup

First off - etrailer; I can't believe how quickly everything came. Very impressed with the operation.

As for the hitch itself, it is "pretty good" and for the price it really is worth it. Overall the quality is very reasonable, it's heavy (62 lbs. with hardware) but I expected that, and I had no major hiccups installing it. You could do worse. I will list some of its shortcomings though, in case you wanted to shell out more and wondered what problems that might solve:
- the hitch bar itself arrived with some scratches and one of the end plates that connects it to the hitch side brackets was slightly bent on one corner. I saw no indication of anything in the etrailer box that could have done this so have to assume it happened beforehand. The bend resolved itself during torquing but the scratches are still present... I don't care, but you might.
- as many other reviews here noted, there is not enough clearance for the exhaust hanger, at least not on my vehicle (1989 Toyota Pickup DLX Extended Cab 2wd 22RE model). I actually thought there was during test fitting, but upon torquing fasteners, the spot-welded plate on the hitch side bracket that was meant to cover over the exhaust hanger cutout notch was ripped off. No big deal for me, the plate came off cleanly, no damage to anything. The notch *is* large enough, without that cover plate, to accommodate the hanger.
- The bolt kit for the hitch came with a giant pile of carriage bolts which mostly worked very well (the square notches under the head fit into either square notches on the hitch side brackets or into provided spacers) *except* when I was remounting the bumper. When you remount the bumper with this hitch, in most cases you end up moving your original Toyota bumper brackets outside the frame by 1/4". The kit comes with 1/4" spacers to make up for that relocation, and also longer bolts (your Toyota stock ones will not be happy with this relocation) to help you secure the bumper. These longer bolts are aforementioned carriage bolts, and unfortunately Toyota didn't make square holes in the bumper for them... they are round holes. Curt really has no excuse here, since they *do* provide hex head bolts that are used elsewhere in the install, and had they done so for the bumper, everything would be hunky dory. As it is, it was impossible to torque with the carriage bolts in the bumper and I didn't want to cut out the openings in the bumper to accommodate the square neck of the carriage bolts. Mercifully my local Ace Hardware had 1.5" grade 8 hex head 1/2" 13 tpi stainless bolts in stock for $[XX] so four of those got me going. But it caused the install to run longer than an hour, which was bearable but annoying.

Overall, I'm happy with the hitch. If you take note of my few complaints above, you will be too.

Works great and fit fine! Make sure to install your bolts loosely and get everything in the right place before tightening it all up. If you tighten too soon (as I did) you'll be going back to loosen them to get everything together.

1996 Honda Accord

Impressive! Received the two hitches I ordered (Class 3 for 1989 Toyota Pickup and Class 1 for 1996 Honda Accord), plus wiring, very fast and in great condition. Vendor was wonderful and would do business with him again, no hesitation! Honda hitch was a breeze. easy to follow directions. Wiring connection could not have been simpler - just plug it in. Toyota hitch was a bit more involved as had to remove the back bumper first (per the instructions) and a heavier hitch. Only snag was I had to notch a bit deeper for the muffler hanger. Wiring was easy as well. Great installation. Professional and prompt vendor. Good product. Good price. No shipping charge and no sales tax. What more could one possibly hope for??!

I received the hitch. The box had a small tear in it but in general it arrive just fine. My mechanic installed it. The old bolts on my pickup was badly rusted and cause difficulties. The mechanic said everything else went just fine.
Previously I ordered a hitch from Amazon. I registered my vehicle and then followed links to find a hitch to buy along with a wiring harness. Both the hitch and the wiring harness did not fit my 1994 Toyota 4x4 pickup even though I followed the correct procedures. The return procedures from Amazon went quite well. The very big problem was when I returned the hitch I had to pay the return postage of $58. The hitch cost $150. I was extremely unhappy about this but I only had a few days to get it back or they would deny my refund.
My mechanic suggested I try this site (etrailer) so I did.
Etrailer's products fit just fine and Amazon's did not.
The wiring harness installed just fine only there was a problem with a distribution box on my pickup. The mechanic is working on it right now.
I am happy with my purchase of the hitch and wiring harness with etrailer.
Thank You

I'm doing some upgrades on my 89 Toyota pickup.. Winch bumper and winch, body work, etc.. My pickup came stock with a 1 1/4" receiver hitch, I wanted a 2: receiver and after a bit of searching found the Curt, class 3, 2" receiver hitch, made to fit, with no drilling.. It took less than a week to receive the hitch.. In comparison, the Warn winch bumper and winch took over 2 weeks.. The receiver hitch fit as advertised, no drilling.. It bolted on just like the original.. The instructions that came with the hitch were a bit vague but sufficient.. E-trailer did a great job and I would not hesitate to order from them again..

I had previously bought a hitch for my truck from a different brand that was an absolute disaster. Following the directions step by step and the thing just wouldn’t work. I returned that hitch and found this Curt hitch from etrailer.com that was advertised as an exact fit. I was skeptical but ordered it. My hitch came in the mail faster than expected, simple directions, and the hitch mounted to the truck and fits like a glove. Even came with bolts to reattach the bumper to its bracket rather than having to use the almost 30 year old bolts again. I would suggest this brand and etrailer.com to anyone!

1989 Toyota Pickup

I had purchased a trailer hitch from a company using Amazon. They listed my vehicle as a vehicle the hitch would work on. Did not fit. Not even close. I ordered this Curt Trailer hitch from e-trailer. Delivered quickly easy, understandable instructions. It was the perfect fit. Had it on in no time. Installed easy and exactly as show on the instructions. I had earlier ordered a wiring kit from etrailer. It also was easy to install. Most of the time when I undertake a project like this I have all kind of issues and problems. This was a pleasure. Great company.

Great price on this trailer hitch receiver. It fit my 1988 Toyota pick up perfectly with no drilling. It comes with all the hardware. Basic instructions and easy to attach. Quick shipping.

by:

Fast shipping with all parts, including extra bumper bolts. I did remove the square tab on the driver's side bracket in order for the muffler hanger to fit. Easy to follow instructions, taking a couple hours for total install. Very satisfied with my receiver hitch and ball mount.

Thanks etrailer

  • Replacement Hitch for 1991 Toyota Pickup Truck
We would not have a part such as this. All the brands we sell are welded together and then the large side plates are bolted to the frame of the truck. If the metal on that part has cracked then I suspect the remainder of the hitch is of a concern for weaken structure. I recommend replacing the entire hitch with the Curt # 13086 Class-3 hitch with 2" receiver that is a confirmed fit for your truck, and includes all hardware needed for installation.

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch 13086 Fit a 1981 Toyota Pickup Truck
Curt trailer hitch # 13086 only goes back to 1984 Toyota pickups so it is not a confirmed fit for your 1981 model. I spoke with Curt at the width between the mounting side plates is 41-1/4 inches. From the center of the rear most hole (on the vehicle) to the middle hole is a little over 3-3/16 inches. And from the center hole to the furthest hole is 8 inches on center. Since Curt doesn't have the rail measurements of the truck I can only get the bolt hole spacing and width of the hitch.

  • Can my 1991 Toyota Pickup Tow my 7000 LB Rated Trailer with a 5000 LB Rated Hitch
It is typically not a concern to tow a 7000 pound GVWR trailer as long as you never exceed the hitch's maximum rating of 5000 pounds or the maximum tow rating of the truck. At your specified weight of approximately 4800 pounds fully loaded, you would still be within the weight capacity for your trailer hitch.
