Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the replacement mounting brackets for your Yakima road shower. This is going to fit with all of the road showers, the four gallon, seven gallon, and the 10 gallon. Basically this is just going to be replacement hardware for the kit that came with your road shower, so if something happened to those original bolts, and you need some new ones, this is going to be the kit for you. Or if you want to attach your road shower in the sideways position or hanging off of a ladder rack, or something like that in kind of a more vertical position, this is going to be the kit that you need because you'll need a third, maybe even a fourth bracket to help support that weight, since holding it from that back channel is going to have more shearing force, than if it's just resting on top of a roof rack.So it gives you the long bolts and the short bolts with the washers needed to get everything in place. Also our locknuts and then two brackets to go to wrap around our bar or wherever we're attaching this to.
These are going to be carriage bolts, so this is what slides into that slot at the back or the bottom of that road shower to hold it in place.Again, four bolts of each kind, the shorter and longer, give you some measurements just to see what kind of length we're working with here. The short bolts going to the top or the bottom of the head of the bolt is about an inch and a half long. Our long bolts are about two and a quarter inch long.The brackets themselves, about five inches total length. The distance between the mounting holes, center to center, is about four and a quarter inch. Width is about an inch, and the depth is about five eighths of an inch.Does have a little bit of a foam backing to those brackets.
That's going to help to protect whatever you're mounting this to. Also to help give it a little bit of conformity around that bar so it's going to help to wrap around and hold it in place a little bit.That's pretty much going to do it for our look at the replacement hardware brackets for your Yakima road shower. Good quality heavy duty metal brackets. Although they were not made for my kayak cradles, I was able to drill out the holes and use my old cradles on my GM car racks. The only other choice I had was to buy new cradles and as my old ones were in excellent condition, I was happy I was able to use these brackets.
After breaking a mounting bracket from my old RocketBox after a run-in with a tree branch, I found these to be the exact dimensions as the originals that are no longer available. They are stronger and better quality than the originals!
